Members CrappieMagnet Posted October 5, 2009 Members Posted October 5, 2009 Thought I'd share one of my favorite recipes with all of you on OZ.C 12 ounces beer,at room temperature 3 cups self rising flour 3 tablespoons sugar Mix flour, sugar and beer Mix till moist.Don't beat the mixture. Put it in a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Right away after it comes out of oven, pour 1 stick of melted butter over the top of bread and remove from loaf pan. This bread is really good toasted, and really, really good with peanut butter! I know....I know....the only problem you all have is SACRIFICING the beer.lol CrappieMagnet Site admin http://www.Catch-n.com/ ProStaff The best Crappie baits at http://www.CrappieRocket.com Custom made rods http://www.FishinFreaks.com Plastics are Fantastic at http://www.Lobybaits.com "We Think Like Fish so YOU DON'T HAVE TO" at http://www.mindalures.com/ Custom made Crappie Jigs at http://thumpitjigs.com
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 It is very good. Its also good made with a 12oz can of Ginger ale. I like to add raisins or dried cranberrys, just be sure and soak them in some hot water before adding to the batter. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
zander Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I made this all the time in college since I was poor but there was always warm beer to be had and enough money to buy flour. You can also use Bisquik and beer to make beer muffins.
rps Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Quick breads (not yeast) can be great. When they use second hand yeast (beer) they get even better. I have never made this bread, but I will soon. Thanks.
Members JGarland Posted May 16, 2011 Members Posted May 16, 2011 Thanks for posting! Had a home made beer bread a long time ago and loved it, definately going to try this recipe. jdmidwest Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Does it matter what kind of beer you use? Does Lite beer have any effect on the rise? Looks good and simple, may give it a whirl. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Another option is to add dried cranberries and/or raisins and a little sugar. I think it does best with a dark beer, such as Shiner Bock, but I generally make it with ginger ale or in a pinch a lemon lime soda. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Is "all purpose" flour the same as self rising? Thanks
snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Never mind I googled it. I'm using Sam Adams Summer Ale.
Trout Commander Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Does it matter what kind of beer you use? Does Lite beer have any effect on the rise? Why would you go out and buy a lady beer just for the bread? Use a man's beer that should already be in your refrigerator. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
