Stickbaits, Paint, Clearcoat, Hooks Question

Regarding clear coats...forgot the most important part. Clear coats have to be "turned" to finish evenly. This is possible by hand if doing single baits with epoxy, but most of us have built and use a "turner" of some type. Mine uses a rotisserie motor and bar, some spoke like doo-hickeys, and alligator clamps for the baits. Lots of pics of these on TU.

It is like turning a rod blank that has had finish applied so it will cure evenly. Not "turning" will not work.

thanks guys for all the info and also leading me to tackleunderground. i had no idea that there was such an expansive wealth of info on just about every topic related to fishing. Tons and tons of people who have tons and tons of experience fishing/tackle making/etc. who just like this website/forum are more than willing to share what they have learned and their past experiences. for those of you who havent checked out TU you really should if you have any questions concerning things from rod building, wood carving, airbrushes and the list goes on and on. again thanks for sharing fellas.

thanks for the info. those are some nice looking rogues. i really like that "norman flake" you got going on. i see that you painted one of them belly up, have u used that yet and do u notice any increase in strikes/catching more fish with that sort of pattern giving off the appearance of a dying belly up fish?

Started doing that about 5 years ago after a buddy drew a pro from Ark in a Central. Said when he opened his rogue box, each and every bait was customed "upside down", with the explanation you would expect.

Have thrown those when it was clear and cold, but quite honestly I paint a rogue better than I fish one. Maybe someone else can add info on this?

dtrs where did u get your rotisserie motor? if thats what u are using of course for your lure drying wheel.

Both of my motors are from Home Depot (1 built, 1 spare). Have added "spokes" since the pic, in current configuration it will turn around 30 baits depending on size and type.

I built one within a paint booth. I use lacquer paint and I did not want to breathe the vapors so I built a booth. It improves the lighting also while painting. I know it don't show the whole thing, but its all I've got right now. I am not really able to take a new picture, but maybe it would give someone an idea if they are wanting to get into this. TU is the place where I learned.
