Whoa...hang on there eric1978. First you poach Joe's favorite stretch and then you wanna poach my fishing partner! He's mine and you can't have him!!!!

Just kidding. Joe is a great guy and a tremendous Smallmouth fisherman, be prepared to be seriously outfished if you hang with him. His fishing style is straightforward and simple, but man can that guy put a hurt on the Smallies.

That's what I hear and I'm ready and willing to be outfished! Whenever I'm outfished I take solace in the fact that I'm learning something. Being around a better fisherman than you inevitably rubs off, whether you notice it or not. You pick up subtle tips and tricks without knowing it. I never learn anything from my regular fishing buddies. They stink! One of them spends more time picking up little creatures and inspecting them than he does fishing. He's a biologist. The other one gets hung up more than a 5 year old girl, and we spend half the day spooking the best holes recovering his lures.

You guys can rest assured that I'm very gentle on rivers. You'll never know I was there and the fish stay where I found them.

Forgot to mention that one of the smallies yesterday, about 13 or 14 inches or so, had what appeared to be a tiny turtle foot sticking out of his gullet. I was gonna take a pic of it but I was about to be swept into a logjam, so I let him go. Not sure if it would have been visible in the pic anyway. You guys ever seen that? I guess they eat turtles since they eat everything else, but I've never seen it before. Only saw 2 turtles on logs yesterday, so I guess he got one of the stragglers.
