ness Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I saw on another internet bulletin chat forum this thing where people tie flies and then a whole bunch show up in the mail. Not sure exactly how it works, but it sounds a little like an illegal chain letter, but with tackle. Anybody got any knowledge about these things? John

All we need is someone to host the swap and a specific type of fly to tie. We even have a Fly Swap section of the forum. I vote we do a warm water pattern. But that's just my style. I would be up for doing one, might even be talked into hosting.

What the heck, I'll do it. I'll start another thread in the Fly Swap section. Were you just sitting there waiting for me to do something stupid? Usually doesn't take long.

Thom Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Quote OK, Flysmallie........I'm In! When is the dead line and you said it is warm water flies??? Flysmallie: These are some of the flies that were tied last year from Duckydoty's fly swap. He did a great job but a few guys dragged thier feet getting their flies to him. Thanks Duckydoty [ I was fortunate enough to sucessfully try all of them this year. Great fun. Thom Harvengt
Flysmallie Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 He did a great job but a few guys dragged thier feet getting their flies to him. Thanks Duckydoty I was guilty on that. I am one of the feet draggers. But Duane did a great job and I hope I can do the same.
Flysmallie Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 [ I was fortunate enough to sucessfully try all of them this year. Great fun. And why did everybody else tie small flies? What are you guys fishing for, my fly?
Thom Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 NOPE , not for a larger fly but for bows and browns. The largest fish I have landed at tan ey came on smaller flys. That small haresear caught me at least 5 bows in my very few trips this year from 18 to 20 inches. However my grandson caught a 4 # smally on a large fly he ties just at the cable during nighn water one day. so i guess it like life to each his own. Sorry for the comment flysmally it was just a comment and not meant as critism. Thom Harvengt
Flysmallie Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Sorry for the comment flysmally it was just a comment and not meant as critism. Oh I know Thom. But I also know that I was one of the ones that drug my feet getting them done last time too.
