Just wondering if any of you had any special tips for fishing during C&R. How many fish do they usualy turn loose? Do they stock in the same places they normaly stock or will they be putting more in the normal C&R area or any certain area? I just want to maximize our chances of catching a lunker.

Get a good pair of polarized glasses, spend some time looking for the fish you want catch, then go catch them. Cheers.

Seek out the fish you want to catch. Then wait for him to yawn and drift your fly into his mouth!

Lookin forward to meeting all of you this weekend!

Be sure to record a song or two if you play there Kevin! ;)

It always seems that most of the bigger fish are up towards the hatchery. I would start out in that area. The problem you have is everyone that is looking for a bigger fish is going to be targeting them in that area as well. Most of the big fish I have seen caught, but not all, have came from sight fishing to them. Using a lot of big streamers and just working the fish. A chamois worm or a egg pattern have produced some nice fish as well.

Get there early and spot some fish and then do your best to get them to bite. Sight fishing isn't for everyone but I have always loved it.

I agree. Last year if the bug wasn't big and ugly the big fish wouldn't pay a lot of attention to it. Big streamers can wear a guy out but they will also catch some big fish.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

I considered bringing a guitar and strumming a few tunes if the fishing was slow, but with three other large fella's and their gear in my wagon......we're a little limited on cargo space, it's either a guitar or the cooler.

Reconsidering, I may have to strap a few things to the roof rack! We'll see!

Thanks for the encouragement, Eric!

But I'm just a little bitty guy.

I'm not bringing much anyway. 2 rods, a camera, very small fly box, spool of tippet and a case of tequila.

I normally fish a 6x tippet in the parks, but I just got some streamers that are a lot bigger than the flies I normally fish with. Does it make sense to change to a bigger tippet if I am using a bigger fly? Just looking for a suggestion on whether or not to change it.

The water is still rather high and fast, I'm going to start with 4X flurocarbon and big streamers, I don't think you'll need 6X much this weekend.

If you are going to use small nymphs, then 6X will be fine.
