Wayne SW/MO Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 How about 8 or 9 ft. of rock and concrete on top of powersite dam. That would give a little more depth to both ends. Sure could use more depth on the bottom end for the native fish in this lake. There are miles of unfishable water on the lower end. Great idea, now sell it to all those that have vested interests 6' above the present level. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Gatorjet Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 [There are miles of unfishable water on the lower end. This may be a dumb question on my part, and more appropriate to the Lower Taneycomo topics, but Why is it "unfishable"? Real men go propless!

That is a good question, I looked just the other day and it was still full of water. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members naru70 Posted December 14, 2009 Members Posted December 14, 2009 Yes its full of water about a foot deep and about 2 feet 50 yards from the bank. Three feet more of water would double the area for fish to hold in from the 6 mile marker down to powersite. When they they have the level a 701 all of that area fishes like a cesspool

Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known. --Pooh's Little Instruction Book, inspired by A. Wayne SW/MO Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Yes its full of water about a foot deep and about 2 feet 50 yards from the bank. In a few spots, but you talk like its that way period, and it not. I know some spots on the Rock that come close to that description. No one is saying what it will do to those with an investment on the shoreline, or don't they matter in this scheme? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

They won't allow Taney's level to rise 1 inch at the face of Table Rock Dam because it would case back pressure on their release. Any back pressure cost $$$. Anything that holds back the water like a dike or spillway or line of rocks across the tailwater won't be allowed. Any depth that's gained must come from taking away material, in our case mostly gravel and we're going to try to do this by placing rocks at strategic spots below the dam.
