denjac Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Had a good wart and grub bite yesterday. Fish were on the windy 45 deg banks. tons of short fish mixed with an ocasional keeper. Biggest was a 4 pound black. Had a 18 in smallie that would have weighed 2 1/2 pounds tops He should have been in the mid 3 - 4 pound range Did notice all the fish we caught were on the skinny side. Guess they just havent fattened up for the winter yet. 95 % of all the fish were blacks with the other 5% smallie. Dont believe we had a KY all day ( strange). Fished fom the powerline on the Suns creek arm to the mouth of Birch Branch. Had the lake to ourself yesterday with only one other boat that used Ruark. Did I mention wind? Geez, Bet it was 15- 25 and two to three foot rollers. Good Times! Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. I noticed that the LM I caught on Beaver Saturday on Beaver were skinny also, which is funny consdiring there were lots of shad around. Maybe they burn lots of calories chasing shad.
Members slowroller Posted November 28, 2009 Members Posted November 28, 2009 denjac, thanks for the info ! We put in yesterday at Mutton caught a good smallie on a jig on the main lake point first thing! Move on to point 8 the wind was light but coming in on the point no wart bite but did get 'em to hit the jig and for about an hour too. Had a couple keepers as well. As it slowed we move to the river. Went to Birch and water was very muddy. Fished on around to about point 9 and nothing.. Went back to main lake, back to point hopping.. We caught most of the fish on the eddy side on the point and when the wind died out they were on the points and just inside. We had 7 keepers the two biggest for the day were the smallie she was almost 17" and had one KY that was very fat and 16 1/2" and alot of 13 to 14 inchers. Believe me I had my 13 year old nephew and his dad with me and he measured every fish !! All fish were caught on a 1/4 oz jig and yes we all used the same size and color ! All were released no blood on any of them !! A Great day !!
