Members bowfin47 Posted November 30, 2009 Members Posted November 30, 2009 Terry, I work for the Louisiana Office of Public Health - Sanitarian Services Section. We couldn't believe that anyone would eat raw crawfish (i.e. crayfish ). Every year, down here in Louisiana, we eat millions of lb.s of crawfish, and I've never heard of anyone eating them raw. That also takes into account those locals who were enjoying adult beverages while the tons of crawfish prepared and consuming those mudbugs. Kyle
Gatorjet Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I guess the alcohol that was most likely involved didn't kill the parasites! Real men go propless!
Gatorjet Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 A mommy crawfish and her brood were crawling through a field when one of the little ones yelled "run fo yo lives, dat ting is gonna eat us" Don't have no worry, momma says, dat's a horse, da dont eat crawfish. A little further another of the brood yelled again. No mama said, dat's a cow da don't eat crawfish. All of a sudden momma sees several people walking through the field. Run, hide, she says, dat's a whole family of Cajuns, and da will eat ANYTHING. Real men go propless!
mclothier1 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Oh boy... My son ate one on a dare from one of his crazy uncles. I dont think he ever got sick, but I will let him know to keep a watch for those symptoms.
FishinCricket Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Well crap! (any if you ever catch yourself admitting to something stupid, but you do it anyway?) I caught and ate around 50 raw crawdads from a creek just outside of Lebanon. My reasons? 1. I was 11 and skipping school, so no venturing back into town (I didn't plan well) 2. I was extremely hungry 3. I had no access to fire 4. I didn't know I could get lung parasites. 5. I'm an idiot. So that was back in 1991, you guys think I should go get checked out? (Granted, I am a borderline hypochondriac, so I would be lying if I said I didn't immediately develop a realization of chronic labored breathing, a slight cough and fever the moment I read this.. lol) cricket.c21.com

When I think about the source, and where that water came from it amazes me that I'm alive to tell about it.
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I caught and ate around 50 raw crawdads from a creek just outside of Lebanon. I hope it wasn't from below my lagoon! Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
