Thanks Leonard for showing us how to fish it as well as tie it. IT WORKS!

THOM

Heck yeah it works! I'm a big fan of anything Leonard ties though. I brought around 40 trout to hand on his flies last Friday night, and I'm just a beginner flyfisherman. Actually caught my first Taney trout that night, even though it wasn't my first time fishing there.

I’m not taken sides, but I have to go with Leonard on this one. Joe came up with the idea of dying pine squirrel, yes. But Joe didn’t come up with this particular pattern. The idea about adding marabou is something we could’ve all came up with, but Leonard promoted it and to be honest I didn’t see anyone with the same tie until Leonard gave me one. I could be wrong, but if I am then I would like to know who originated the pattern.

There is more BS in fly fishing than a Kansas feed lot ~ Lefty Kreh :P

I have been a PMS'er since the day Leonard 'snuck' me one in the parking lot at outlet 2 probably 3 years ago.

I will have to agree, Leonard has an awesome fly. I had never really fished streamers before let alone at night. I have always relied on the nymph and lighted indicator. I fished with Leonard on last Wednesday and he shared a few of these flies and when he said to have a tight grip on the rod he wasn't lying. Those trout would smash that thing, even the little ones. We probably landed 50-60 fish Wednesday night and I went agian Friday night. They were slow Friday up until about Midnight, but from then till 3am I probably landed a good 75-100. I couldn't make a cast without getting hit. Stood just barely below rebar and never moved for 3hrs until I unhooked the last one and convinced myself I better leave so I could somewhat function with the family the next day. I looked at that fly in the water under my light and it just simply comes to life. I just couldn't believe it worked as good as it did and I was only dead drifting, basically no stripping. I would have to say Leonard has one heck of a fly. Thanks agian Leonard. Cannot wait till I can make it down agian.

Is it really the fly or all the positive karma flowing from a very generous tier. Who seems to really enjoy sharing his successful methods and patterns on the water with perfect strangers well on their way to becoming good friends. Some really like to continually bust balls around here, and it doesn't speak well to those that have been befriended.

On second thought its gotta be the fly. :P

I haven't fished a "Leonard original" but I've mocked it ever since I first saw one. It pretty much rocks !

And I have a theory that the 200R is what really makes that fly.

Paul Dallas can vouch for the PMS - its his go-to streamer now for trout and smallmouth. Leonard's fly may not look all that unique, but fish seem to like it better than other similar streamers, and thats all that matters.

Great fly, Leonard.

This is always an interesting read every 6 months or so when it comes up.

I intentionally went two years not fishing the PMS due to the discussion on these boards with the expectation that it was simply Leonard fanboys over hyping the fly. I tied one on last summer and it has now become my go to night fishing fly. It is one of the few flies that I scream and cuss when I break one off. Great fly Leonard.
