Members tpierce Posted December 16, 2009 Members Posted December 16, 2009 Any info on Tangora's Marine out of Nixa? I've had a recommendation to have them rebuild my Merc 200 EFI. It's looking like $3200-3500 if there is no damage to the block. The last rebuilt 2 and a half years ago only cost me $2200. I don't want to drive half way across the state...I'm sure there are quality mechanics around the Table Rock area. I just don't want to get taken to the cleaners. It's hard to track how many hours they actually spend rebuilding, so you can charge an extra $100 here $300 there.

I don't mind paying someone good money if they do quality work. At this point I plan on taking it to Bruce at Tangora's to see what he has to say about it.
Members LouDog Posted December 16, 2009 Members Posted December 16, 2009 I've been going to Bruce since the early 90's and have had excellent results. I broke a 50 cent oil line in the winter of '98 and it shelled my old carbureted 200 Merc. He steered me to a dealer in TX for a new 200EFI and saved me $1,500 to $2,000 (shipping included) over the best deals I could get around here.
edwin Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Brian Hayter at Ulrich Marine is fantastic. He's 'ssimpala71' on the bassboatcentral.com Mercury forum, on top of it for sure. Worth giving them a ring and seeing what's the going rate. "Advantages are taken, not handed out"
Dutch Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I know both Brian and Bruce. They both do good work. They are the only 2 wrenches that I use.
Gary Lange Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Mike Edwards at Top Gun Marine in Nixa is a very good mechanic and will take great care of you and fix the motor right the first time. His number is 725-1887. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
techo Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Hey Gary! How fast you have that Cobra flying now. I would have to agree with Gary on mechanics. Tim Carpenter
