CHRIS JENKINS IN KIMBERLING CITY JUST STATED HIS OWN SHOP, BEST MERCURY MEGHANIC AROUND. OR MIKE BINDER IN WILLARD, BEST YAMAHA MECHANIC AROUND. BOTH GUYS YOU COULD TRUST WITH YOUR WALLET. MIKE WORKS OUT OF HIS HOUSE, USED TO BE AT CENTER CITY, LOWER OVERHEAD AT HOME.

Ill second Mike Binder, very fair prices on everything. I had him fix an alarm as well as replace the water pump in my old Mariner. He did a great job!!

Is this common for Merc EFI? was it the same problem or a different cause. Seems that a rebuild every couple of years is a little extreme to me.

Don't know what the problem is yet but I'll post when I find out.

As far as Yamaha are concerned there is no place in the country better then HydroTec Performance Marine here in Nixa, Mo. Wayne and the boys in the shop know Yamaha's inside and out. If you need work on your Yamaha give either Wayne or Matt a call at 725-5714.

Time the Cobra ran 77.5 last time out.

I too agree with Redbud. Why should you have to rebuild an engine every 2-3 years? I had a 200hp Yamaha blow in 2000, but that was after 14 years of service. No reason why it happened, it just did. But a mechanic I sold it to for parts suggested not relying completely on the oil injection system to work 100% perfect all of the time. His suggestion was to add some oil to the gas (enough for a 100-1 ratio) just to help keep things well lubricated in the event the oil injection malfunctioned. I've been running a 2001 200hp with carbs since and have been adding the little extra oil. So far so good.

You may want to think hard on the type of 2 stroke oil your using. They are "supposed" to all be TCW-3 rated but I have tried to stick with the Mercury Qucksilver Premium Plus just in case there is any difference. Good luck.

Why arent you running yamaha oil? Is the quicksilver cheaper or rated better.I get a little nervous when I see posts about blown engines. My 03 HPDI has prefomed flawlessly so far.If you are buying gas in MO install a 10 micron water seperating filter to help counter the effects of ethanol.A little Ringfree in the fuel wont hurt either

Studies have shown that Yamalube is one of if not the best 2 Stroke Oil on the Market. It has properties in it that make it better but I can't remember now what they were. I run a Mercury and use Merc. Premium Plus like the book says. I add Stabil and Quicklean to every tank and have had no problems with the motor. I have saved some Gallon containers and may start using the Yamalube since I can get it at HydroTec here in Nixa. There was study on the oils done a while back and it named Yamalube as the best. I would have switched then but I am a believer in running what the manufacurer suggests.
