eric1978 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Out of pure boredom I drove out to Busch today to look at the frozen lakes...and yep, they were frozen. But someone was kind enough to open up a hole for me before I got there so I gave it a shot and I pulled a few out. It was better than staring at the computer all day. With the current cold front blowing in as I type this, and the freezing weather forecast for next week, I would suggest to the St. Louis boys to get on I-44 if you want to catch fish in the near future. Unless of course you wanna do the coffee-can-full-of-concrete-and-chain thing...which might not even be possible in a day or two. .
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Nice Eric! I don't know if this still holds true but Tillis Park used to have a fountain and it kept the lake from freezing for a little while longer than the rest of the area. I haven't been there in quite a while since 40 was closed for 2 years. Maybe someone that lives near there can confirm? SIO3 There are no fish at Busch!
Geoff Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 tillis still has the fountian. however, it is currently closed cause of that christmas light display that is put on there this time of year What did you catch them on? FishinCricket Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 He caught them on Worms that have been fed powerbait.. Don't let him tell you it was a fly. I was watching. cricket.c21.com
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 We used to fish when the display was going, but that was 5 years ago. That long display on the dam kind of got in the way of your back cast . SIO3 There are no fish at Busch!
eric1978 Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 What did you catch them on? It would tickle Cricket pink to get you guys thinking I caught them on worms fed with Powerbait, but fortunately he's full of baloney. #10 Olive Woolly Bugger, tied with my own hands. Make sure you bring some 10 pound splitshots if you plan to use them out there anytime soon. I don't know about Tillis. Probably never will, either. I'm not crazy about yuppies.
Geoff Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 i wont be out there til spring time, what i want to catch out here goes into hiding in the winter "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
eric1978 Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 i wont be out there til spring time, what i want to catch out here goes into hiding in the winter I assume you mean largemouth? Which lakes do you think are best for LM out there?
BredMan Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 For all the bad press Busch gets from some folks it isn't all that bad, especially when there aren't too many other options! What lake was you fishing? Looks like it could be lake-28 or 22 in the pic.
FishinCricket Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 It would tickle Cricket pink to get you guys thinking I caught them on worms fed with Powerbait, but fortunately he's full of baloney. I got pictures to prove it.. He was using powerbait fed superworms with lazers attached to their heads.. On a treble hook to boot! cricket.c21.com
