Members LarryC Posted January 5, 2010 Members Posted January 5, 2010 Read in the news they are building a new 75,000 square foot building close to the old Sportsman Warehouse in Rogers. Didn't say when the grand opening is scheduled. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.

Quillback Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Do they have lots of fishing stuff? Never been inside an Academy.

jeb Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Thanks for the great news, guys! I've never been in an Academy either, but they seem to have a great rep, and I'll be looking forward to checking them out when they open. This area really needs a replacement for Sportsman's Warehouse. I hope they do well with it. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Sore Thumbs Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I talked to someone who is supposedly going to work there and he said late august was when it was going to open. I went to the one in Ft.Smith today and they had Quicksilver Premium Plus 19.99 a gal. Good deal.
jeb Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Good to hear. You know, I'll probably still spend most of my local tackle money at Hook, Line and Sinker, even if it costs me a little more. They've been great guys to deal with and I sure want to see them stick around. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Sore Thumbs Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I agree with you on that one. Aaron and Chris are awesome and they share a lot of knowledge with u to help you catch more fish. You are not going to find that at Academy. That being said there are some things that Academy has that HLandS doesn't and vica verse. I think that people who fish a lot will be dissapointed in their selections. The one in Ft.Smith has a terrible jig selection. Hook line on the other hand has an awesome selection. I think Academy will help HLS once people see the difference in service.

I was in the Academy store in Joplin, MO on Thursday and the guy at the gun counter was talking about the "NEW" store in Arkansas and how it was going to hurt the business at there store....
