Dutch Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 How long of a period was your warranty on the motor? If it has expired then it sounds like you have an insurance claim.
snakem Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 How long of a period was your warranty on the motor? If it has expired then it sounds like you have an insurance claim. still have 2yrs left
Dutch Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 You should be able to take it to a local Mercury warranty shop like Sports Boats and get it fixed.
denjac Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 If it busted open due to feezing up I dont think the warranty will cover it. If you hit a submerged tree then your boat insurance will cover it. getfished Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 If a seal has failed and no fishing line or other intrusive material is found the warranty may be obligated to cover. Have you pulled the prop to look for anything that may have violated the seal? I expect the seal is going to be the culprit. It may be defective or it may have been violated with fishing line or something else.A lot will probably determined by the exact verbiage used. You may end up having to pursue an insurance claim. Sometimes impact can originate enough wear on the seal to make it fail. You probably should be careful with any statements you make. Good luck http://www.tacklespecialty.com/
motoman Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 ..........You probably should be careful with any statements you make. Good luck - +1 .................(actually, +100000 would be more appropriate)
redbud Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 - +1 .................(actually, +100000 would be more appropriate) I once had a truck with transmission problems . The dealer wouldnot cover the repairs even though the warranty was not up. It was real close maybe 5000 miles or less. They said that since I had "negleted" proper maintenance they could in no way repair my truck . Needless to say I was mad as a hornet. My wife wanted to get a lawyer as a new tranny was pushing 4k. We took the truck to a different dealer ,across the state line and the service manager drove it around the block and before we got back he was asking when I could leave the truck for repair. I guess what Im saying is all dealers are not the same some are great some fair and some fail.If the problem with your motor is covered by your warranty you should be ok .Good luck and be persitent.
