Gavin Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Jerkbaits....Rapala's, Lucky Crafts, & Rogues in the 3.5"-5.25" range for the bigger fish..... San Potter reported some small olives coming off, didnt see any, but I'd expect em to be in the 22-26 range this time of year....If you get a warm NIGHT, or better yet...TWO NIGHTS were the day & night temps stay above freezing...expect some caddis activity on top.......emergers & dries....usually about a size 18 and gray/olivish this time of year. Otherwise, fish your usual suspects...buggers, brown & olive mohairs, eggs...etc. Have fun!
joeD Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Fished Wednesday with a friend from 12:30 to 5 pm. Park to Tan Vat and Baptist Camp down. Used Rapala F11s and 13s. 3 rainbows (one about 3#s) and 1 brown. That's it. No chasers whatsoever. Didn't even SEE fish, not even scattering. Disappointing to say the least. BUT, you never know. It could be great when you're down there. As always, fish when you can. Good luck.
trizkid Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 thanks guys......another question for ya is the store in montauk open this time of the year and do they sell fire would still? TrIzzout
Gavin Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Montauk Lodge should be open on Sunday, but I'm not sure about Monday...There are thousands of trees down in the ONSR thanks to a violent wind storm last year, looks like a pile of pick up sticks in many places. Bring a saw and go get some of it. Shouldnt take long at all. Cheers.
jdmidwest Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Reed's Cabins is open all year outside of the park and it has a good deal on slab firewood. Good fly shop also, huge selection. Cabins are ok to stay in too. Looks like a nice weekend, we are heading up in the morning for the weekend. Gonna kamp at a Motel.
