Hey guys, been reading and trying to gather as much info as possible. Planning on going to the rock this weekend and fishing hopefully both days. If it's windy at all I'll be throwing jerbaits, if not prolly try to dropshot or spoon or grub around some cedars. Thing is, I fish out of a 14 foot flatbottom with a 9.9 on the back. I've gotten real good at controlling it and bass fishing outta it over the past two years, but unfortunately I am very limited in the area of the lake that I fish considering such a small horsepower, unless I want an hour boatride just to go anywhere with distance. So, being restricted to a couple miles of the ramp I put in, where would u guys recommend I put in at that has some pretty productive areas around it this time of year. I read about the water thats supposed to come in from Beaver? Does this make the White the place to be? Any info would be extremely helpful!!! Thanks

ps.. Thanks to every regular on this forum! As a college student up at Rolla not being around any lakes, all of the information you guys provide is such a blessing everytime I decide to make the 2 hour drive to go fishing, which has been quite often!

Set the hook first, ask questions later...

Think seriously about putting in at Eagle Rock or Big M. Near each are many, many spots/areas/patterns that are productive. Another good choice is the Highway 39 bridge put in near Shell Knob. All three are good for limited running time boats.

BTW my first boat was a flat bottom with an inherited old Evinrude 18. Nothing wrong with a small boat and a limited motor.

I wouldn't over look baxter boat dock area, with that 9.9 you could get up in both big and little indian creek. I've just recently starting fishing that area, i like it more and more every time i go. That stick bait should get you a couple hawgs up there. I know before this ice i seen two fish over five and one was probably over six both on the jerk bait. We worked channel swings with little pockets in them. That pattern hasnt failed me since early fall, everytime i have been up there there was a big fish to be caught. Chart. Shad Staysee was the bait last time Good Luck !!! I'll be at the lake on Wed. Ill let you know how it went.

I would second the Aunt's Creek motion. There is a lot of places to fish from the ramp to the mouth. You can hit almost any type of fishing available, except maybe steep bluffs. Spring is especially sweet in that area.

You can also put in at Emerald Beach boat ramp by Golden or Viney Creek Campgrounds.. Emerald is free. Viney needs day use fee.

No big boat needed down at this end on the white river. Take 86 to J. Follow J to entrance of Viney Creek. Turn right, then left on Emerald drive.

Take Emerald to Mockinbird, take a left, Then right on Turkey Mtn road. If you end up in the water, you've gone too far.

When to UMR/MST myself. If you have flatbottom and a 9.9 you need to try the Jerome Access on the Gasconade River. It is about 15 minutes from Rolla. The first hole at the ramp is over 3/4 mile long and is loaded with big smallies (it used to be anyway) and this is a trophy area (one 18" fish only). I used to have a jet boat in college and this is an excellent area. You might even be able to get over the first shoal upriver. Just thought it might be a good stress relief from the grind of UMR/MST.

As for a ramp, I would look at Long Creek. With the forecast rain this week the water could get a little color in it and ther are several good banks up Brush Creek or up Long Creek good points and bluff ends. If the wind is strong, I wouldn't recommend this area.
