Don,

Heard good things about the Rosemont show also, although a lot of comments about not having manufacturers there. Most of the major rod and reel guys skipped it. It has been down for the last several years, but some new guys running it were very active on seeking comments and suggestions. Most were very supportive of the final efforts, with hopes of continued efforts paying off next year.

Haven't checked out G3 yet, thanks for the suggestion. Looking at retiring and building on a lakefront lot in Lampe, and the fish/ski deck boats will allow the relaxation we will enjoy, plus allow me to scratch my fishing itch also.

Still a year or so away, but I can't wait!

Just checked out their line. The "deck boat" layout has plusher pontoon boat seating in the back, plus a front platform with a pedistal and trolling motor/finder options on a regular V-hull boat design. Not really ready to go full pontoon just yet! I was thinking of the Princecraft Ventura 192 model as a happy medium.

Bill

Bill one thing I have learned get what you want!!!! I know one of the guys running that show at rosemont show.. He was pushing it really hard.. First year in 7 I was not there.. Enjoying the Winter Lazy life right now..

Good Luck on your boat search, and by the way welcome to the lake 1 year early!! <:><

Bill,

Ulrich Marine in Branson West is a Princecraft dealer. Their number is 272-1841. Their website is: Ulrich Marine link

CaptainJoe,

Thanks for the info. Got a little lazy I guess in checking for dealers. Only two used Princecraft in their inventory, and none new listed on their site. Have to give them a call tomorrow.

Thanks, Bill

Did you check out Lowe Boats? It is not a Bass Boat, but with my family loving the lake it is the best I can do with out having two boats.

Jay Bird,

Is that the deck boat one you're talking about, similar to the Polar Kraft? I have seen them, and had them on the radar, but I think I have a good deal worked out on a Princecraft. If that falls through I'll definitely be checking out the Lowe's.

Which one do you have? Size and which motor size? I would probably look at the 22 ft. with a 150 on the back, but wonder if that's enough power to get a skier up with a few (3-4) passengers on board? I'd love to get your thoughts and review on the boat as someone who uses it.

The concept is a very good one for both enjoying and relaxing the water while still allowing a reasonable fishing option also.

Do you have a trolling motor up front? If so, which one and power? I think that might have to be bumped up a little from the normal weight/motor recommendations simply because there's a lot of freeboard, or boat above the water, to catch the wind.

Eagerly awaiting anything you can tell me.

Thanks for responding.

Bill

If your looking for a deck boat that can be used for fishing I've done allot of research on this and looked at the Lowes, Princekraft, Polar ?, Hurricane and many others. We wanted a 8 - 10 passenger that could be used for sking and fishing. I ended up with a NauticStar 205 which is made in Mississippi. It's all fiberglass without any wood. It comes standard with a 115 hp 4 stroke Yamaha but can take a 150. From my research the fuel ecomony with this motor was the best I could find - 3.6 gal/hr at mid range and 7.6 at 5000 rpm. Top speed is 41 mph. It maintains plane at about 15 mph which is good for wakeboarding. It's gunwales are not so tall as many deck boats so as to not collect the wind so bad when fishing.

I'm installing a MinnKota Powerdrive with remote control and built-in dual beam transducer to work with my Humminbird 777 up front and a 997 on the console. Total cost about $30K.

My boat is suppose to be built this week and should be in Branson West at Cope Marine in mid to late Feb if you want to check it out.

Here are some links to the performance testing and a review in Boating Life or google NauticStar.

Bobby,

Yea, I looked at all of them also. There are a lot of pretty nice options. Some can get pretty pricy pretty quick. I wanted aluminum just for the weight and durability considerations. I just bought a Princecraft Ventura 192 with a 150 Optimax. Gonna pick it up in a few weeks. Enjoy your new ride, and thanks for the info. on yours.
