Snagging Line?

Recommended Posts

Ok Snagging from the bank with Spinning Outfit and Surf Rod.Would I be better off with 65# Test Line? I'm thinking more along the line of breaking off if I get hung up.

I prefer the 80lb Power Pro braided. If I get hung,I hold the top fo the Penn reel and back up.. Breaks clean.

Well I use 80 pound on my Penn Reels ande just wrap it around the Cleat when Snagging from a Boat. This will be my first year from the bank because I sold my Boat.

I'm figuring wrap it around a Stick so I could hold it.

I like the old fashioned dacron for snagging, its not so thin that it cuts your hand or the fish.

Well this is what I use Snagging from aq Boat. But with Casting all the time I'm not sure how it would work???

I've never snagged from the bank but when I go snagging I use a penn reel spooled with 130# braided line. I think thats pretty safe since I know I'm not going to break it that easily. I know for some that might be a little much but hey its all in what you prefer.

40lb mono is what I use from bank with a spinning reel.

I have a short boat rod I am going to use this year with 100lb braid to a snap swivel. Tie up some 50lb mono leaders with hooks for easy breaks.

I always used the 80# braided line and it would cast great with anything from 2-6 ounces. 65# would snap in the force of casting sometimes. 80# will break at the knot every time if you get hung on the bottom. Just get the line tight, then a sharp yank will cause the line to cut itself at the knot. Anything larger than that is too hard to break from the bank.
