Gary Lange Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 The meeting held today at the Library Center in Springfield was very interesting and informative. However, I was disappointed in the turnout of folks that posted and interest and had a lot to say and many questions but didn't show up. We need a lot more members to be a viable voice in Southwestern Missouri. Thanks to Matt and the others for coming down and giving a small presentation on the MSA and giving us and opportunity to meet with you and discuss the SWMSA Chapter. I hope that it gets off the wishing table and becomes reality. If you truly want to help make Missouri become a world class Smallmouth fishery join the MSA and lets get some meeting set up and talk about it. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 21, 2010 Root Admin Posted February 21, 2010 This was the first fishable Saturday of the year so you can blame the weather I bet. The lake here was full of anglers- very full. Needless to say, Saturday's are bad for me. Wish I could have been there just to meet some of the guys from St Louis.
Gary Lange Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 That is what I told Matt. If it would have been when the weather was 25 degrees below normal we would have had a better turn out. I still hope that this can get off the ground and get a chapter going. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
RSBreth Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 That is what I told Matt. If it would have been when the weather was 25 degrees below normal we would have had a better turn out. I still hope that this can get off the ground and get a chapter going. Yeah, I was holed up trying to finish some writing chores and was only able to break away and fish for about two hours. If the confluence of all that wasn't in the way, I would have been there.
msamatt Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Gary, Joe, Norris, and Scott: Thanks for taking the time to come out on what was probably the best weather day we've had in weeks to attend our meeting and to join/renew your membership in the MSA. I'll take the time now to publicly thank Phil for joining the MSA as well. He joined us earlier this year and we really appreciate his membership as well. While I would have loved to talk to a packed room I was happy to have the opportunity to talk the the guys that were there. I was also pleased that two MDC fisheries management biologists, Mary Culler from the SW Regional office in Springfield and Rick Horton from Neosho took the time to attend as well. We've worked hard for the past 18 years to develop a good working relationship with the MDC and its thanks in no small part to dedicated MDC employees like them that the MSA/MDC relationship is as strong as it is. With some help from Gary, Joe, Norris, Scott and anyone else who wants to help we'll grow a strong SWMO chapter. Gary Lange Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 I am not sure of a couple of them are on here. I was looking for you Chief any reason other then a beautiful day to go fishing? Respect your Environment and others right to use it!

smallmouthjoe Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I forgot to tell you guys that I was on here in case anyone wanted to get a hold of me. I can't blame anyone for being too busy, the only reason I was able to show up is because after days of begging my boss he let me have the afternoon off. We'll grow, I'm not too worried about it. Gary, if you could let me know about the next meeting a couple of weeks in advance that would be great. My schedule is really tight right now. Thanks.
Gary Lange Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 I will get things figured out and see about setting up a meeting somewhere. I would like to do it on a weekday evening so that it doesn't get in those that want to fish over the weekends way. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
