Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 24, 2010 Root Admin Posted February 24, 2010 I agree, but in Flysmallie's defense I have to point out he was being satirical...like Rush was the other day. It was clearly a joke. My bad. I thought the comment was way out of character for smallie but thought may be there was something behind the scenes going on. Re reading it, it was clearly tongue and cheek. Sometimes, I don't read so good! I apologize.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I don't believe there is any difference between Trout Unlimited and the MSA. They both want to preserve the environment for fish species, in this case both reside in the same stream, much like several other streams with Ribbons attached. The biggest difference is that one is native and one is introduced. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Chief Grey Bear Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Well, TU has actually taken land owners to court over land use practices. And won. So the MSA isn't saving the world this month...big whoop. I would imagine discussing techniques to catch smallmouth would be one of their topics of interest. Geez, Chief. You sure spend a lot of time poo-pooing and criticizing other people's initiative, interests, projects, ideas, whatever. Why don't you tell us about all the work YOU'VE done to improve fisheries so I can tell you what a big waste of time it was and how you really made no difference in the grand scheme of things. So you cleaned up a river with a stream team?...So what? Maybe some other stream team picked up twice the garbage you did, so does that mean YOUR efforts meant nothing? Lighten up, man. Seriously.

It wouldn't appear to be so much as soliciting by the forum readers then. I personally took it as an invitation until I saw I was required to dish out money to join. It wouldn't appear to be so much as soliciting by the forum readers then. I personally took it as an invitation until I saw I was required to dish out money to join. Maybe some of us would rather give our time instead?? ....Just thinking outloud here. Peace Absolutely ridiculous. Okay, I want all of the guides on here to clear out their signatures that state they are guides...that's unsolicited advertising and it's cluttering up my screen. Get rid of it. In fact, I guess any liveries, outfitters, fly shop owners, instrucors...anyone with a business or a project or organization to promote who posts here should now go incognito because simply fraternizing and networking with other members of the forum could accidentally spurn some incidental business. And by the way, what's the difference between Gary's effort to bring together like-minded folks for a common purpose and the following, aside from the fact he's part of an actual organization and you're just some guy trying to dupe people into forking over their hotspots to you? Jokes aside, I came to one conclusion. I will need to join forces with a group of like minded individuals to properly achieve my goals. It can be done if I form a coalition, a posse, a gang of Partners. Not only to lesson the burden of its expense but also to have more than one perspective toward the goal while not monopolizing more time than one individual can tolerate. The old saying, "two minds are better than one" fits like a glove and several minds in collaboration can map every lake inch by inch, log by log, bush by bush, the old fashion way, no GPS, just landmarks and mile markers to describe territory. We buy maps and take notes. Then we fish together and cross reference our maps. Not just once a month but weekly or even daily to achieve rapid advancement to our higher education. I want to hit this like a full time job. Is anyone hearing me here? Hmmm...guess that's spam, too, no? If you want to get technical about it, the only people that have a right to advertise anything on this forum are Lilley and his paying advertisers. Everything else is just...SPAM. Get a life.
KCRIVERRAT Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Eric... we ALL need to get a life! Let's just go fishing... by the way, you got a baby yet? HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
eric1978 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 eric, I believe if you look back at my post, you will see that I have never belittled what they have done. I didn't see anything that looked to me like something was really being done to improve the smallmouth. What I came away with from the site was that for my money I could put up some signs, work a stream team and do some fishing with other members. To me, that is a bass club not an organization that is truely fighting for the smallmouth bass. Well, TU has actually taken land owners to court over land use practices. And won.
