Is the Shad Kill over? Any signs in the lake of shad in the coves or around darn, and whats the lake temp now? I have heard from a couple different people down there that it may be over. Whats the word, if any?

Also, is there anywhere u can buy sculpin? Or is it better to just catch them youself?

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find live sculpins at a local bait dealer, they're pretty tough to keep alive in aquariums. You'd be better off catching your own.

actually its against the law to sell sculpins, so you have to catch them yourself.

The lake temp is anywhere from 43 degrees to 52 in some spots. With the corps not geneating much only 2-5 units we won't see much more I would guess. The best thing to do is catch your own and freeze them in baggies 6 to a bag and use them dead it doesn't matter to the trout at all!! Good Luck Hotdawg!

A friend at work said to use a very small hook and nightcrawler. Is there a better way?

I see very little need for natural bait on the White River. So many artifical lures work very well. Of course, some days are better for one style over another. I've heard the fly fishing can be pretty good too.

I agree, it is not needed. However I want a bigger one and I have heard that sculpins are the way to go.

I actually think they look really neat. I am going to try to keep one alive in my aquarium with my equally prehistoric alligator snapping turtle.
