I was half kidding and running with the Aunt's Creek humor. I put in there a lot because it is in the middle of the area I like to fish. I don't really fish it that much. I was also half serious.

I know Mike a bit and I know he would help out anyone anyway he could. As a matter of fact he and I run the two smallest motors in AIA. He gave us some information before the tournament. We sort of stuck to our game plan, but his information was spot on and I think he finished one spot out of the money. Good for us little guys that only fish two or three days a week.

On the other hand.....I have private messaged a person or two with exact spots, but NEVER would post a map with detailed spots. The reason is the power of the forum.

As an example....last year Buzzards Cove was hot for a while. Someone posted there were white bass there and I could almost walk across the boats in that cove! We were killing them in Jackson Hollow for a while last year and someone went and posted the name of the place we were catching fish and whallah! Fished a tournament and could not get on one of our spots. Want more......Babler posted that LC Bev Shad were a secret on Table Rock. Guess what Bass Pro was sold out of two days later. I already had some, but thought I would check colors.

So.....when smallmouthjoe heads out to those spots.....half a chance he will have the honor of sharing them with a bunch of people.

I love the forum and all of the information we share really narrows down the water. If I say I caught them on main lake points that had transition banks with trees nearby in eighteen feet of water on a stick bait that you had to work real slow and make sure the wind is blowing toward it......would that help?

I didn't give you a specific location, but how many spots are there like that. Chances are you will find one of many spots real similar.

So anyways.....didn't mean any offense to Mike, but wish he would have PMed specific locations for the benefit of any who use those spots and smallmouthjoe.

I guess I don't understand. People on this forum are always probing around for more information and when someone gives someone ALL the information he is bashed for it. S&M glad you are catching fish and I am sure SMJ is chomping at the bit to get after them.

Sorry if I was "bashing" you Mike. Respect is important to me and if I offended you in any way, I will delete the posts or ask Phil to.

-A bit off topic, but speaking of the power of the forum; if one takes a look at the number of members on OAF vs. the number of people who post on average, one will quickly realize there are THOUSANDS of members. And of those thousands, I'm sure a good majority of them love to brag to others about fish THEY claim to have found. (translation: fish other OAF members found, and were courtious enough to share on the boards)

-

No big deal on the lurkers, but I wonder how many of those people use OAF for info, but never post anything, and return the favor? <_<

-

Just thinking out loud here. Maybe I'm just sleep deprived?

Thats sort of one of the points I was trying to make! From now on can I call you and you post what I mean? I sure hope smallmouthjoedoes well in any case. Nice weather and should be fun. My fishing day was vetoed by the slavemaster (better known as the hot little Mrs techo).

Off to paint!

I've wrestled with this thought for years and as the viewership of the site grows, there will be more lurkers and more posters. It's pretty much for it is and won't change. We can encourage "giving back" and some will, some won't.

It's all good.

Out of all the members listed though you have to consider most are old sign-ups and aren't using the forum anymore. There are some duplicate and even triplicate because they register when they can't remember their user names and passwords (they can always email me and ask to update their listing).

We're getting about 1500 unique visitors a day right now. Not sure what the member-to-visitor ratio is but you'll see from 55 to 75 people on the forum during heavy usage. Now that's within a 15 minute range. Other forums show 60 minutes and even up to 24 hours and they'll show dozens and hundreds of visitors. I guest oaf would show over a thousand. Usage for the next couple months will be the heaviest of the year.

Well, I may fall into that "lurker" category, but only because I live four hours away from Table Rock and only get to fish it once a year. After my annual trip I post what I think will be helpful to others, although can't say I've given exact spots... mainly because I don't remember them like some of you guys do. If I fished the Rock more regularly and could provide more, I would.

So from someone who truly enjoys this forum and all of the great information provided, I thank you.

46 posts... I wouldn't call you a lurker. But I understand your position. Nothing wrong with being a lurker at all. But the more people share on the forum the better for all. We all make more friends that way.

I agree Phil, not a lurker at all. And even those who do lurk; no big deal. I didn't mean to cast any dispersions on the casual reader; who may not feel like they have much to post. That is perfectly is not at all who I was referring too, as I am the same way on other boards.

-

To be more specific, by lurker; I was referring more to those big boys, who fish the big tournaments, blow through town; simply 'use' the local resources (OAF included), then take off and leave. With little regard to anyone or anything behind them.............until the next Ozark tourney.

-

I don't get down to The Rock nearly as much as I used to anymore; due to family obligations. But, my mind always drifts back to the The Rock. :)

-

So to the casual readers, who may not post much; do not take offense, nothing meant towards you. :)

-

(yikes, I just noticed my original post and corrected where I posted the word lurkers, I meant 'members'. It was 2:00 a.m., and I was a bit sleep deprived................what a typo! )

I have been on both ends giving out to much information and seeing a bunch of boats on the spot on the next day, but I have also been on the other end of working all week and getting some great information and being on fish I may not of found. Last year a guy posted some great information about some fall white bass up the James that turned into one of the best fishing days with my kids I have ever had. I appreciate all the people who post on this forum, they are on the lake a lot more than I am and really help at least get close to the right pattern that may be working.
