Buzz Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I finally got to catch a few bass today. I haven't bass fished since the end of December. I hit a few spots near the house that I usually go to when I have a limited amount of time. The water is really clear right now and there is a lot more moss than I've seen in quite some time. I tried a couple of baits, but only one produced. I caught 9 bass, 2 of which were decent sized smallmouth, the others were mixed between largemouth and kentuckies. Most of the fish were in slack water under logs and brush piles, but near fast water. The bait for today was a jig and big show craw. Several fish hit the bait on the fall after it was pulled over logs. Seven of the nine fish were caught out of two holes in a 30 minute time frame. They turned on and then turned right back off. It was good to be on the creek and catching bass again. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

creek wader Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Way to go Buzz. Glad to hear stream bass fishing has finally arrived. Long winter. We still have snow up here at St. Joe, but it's melting fast. Think I'll leave them urban trout alone and hit some streams down at Jeff. City. I'm getting the fever, bad!!!... By the way post some pics, next time. So, I can really get fired up!!! wader

If the weather stays like this it's really going to turn on. Creekwader, I'll take some pics next time just for you. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

Buzz Posted March 8, 2010 Author Posted March 8, 2010 Nice weather today, to bad I was at work Glad you got out and enjoyed some bass fishing. I was able to get on the creek sat. and caught a few on a jerkbait and jig. I was up near your part of the creek later in the afternoon and was wondering if you were working or fishing. It was way too nice of a day to have to work. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ollie Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I ended up going to Capps. I thought about getting out on Elk with the yak, but thought it might be too windy so I opted out. Capps wasn't so kind. Only caught two trout and two bass. Better luck next time I guess. Glad you did ok though. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
KCRIVERRAT Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Looks like you're on to the remedy for that fever. We had stuff to take care of down in Moran, Ks. Be back down soon Buzz! KC HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Members CDC Posted March 9, 2010 Members Posted March 9, 2010 Sounds like you had a great day... I put the canoe in at Reddings Mill bridge on Sunday afternoon. Only caught three total on the way down to Wildcat but I was pretty happy about that. I was just so glad to get out.
