conman Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I will be down Sat and Sunday. I am expecting a pretty tough go, any one have any good advice? Thanks Chris
Bill Babler Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Only had a couple of hrs. yesterday, so I launched at Gage's and went up Long Creek. Surface temp at 47.1. Threw a McStick Bandit, the entire time. Table Rock Tackle and Marine has a limited Supple of them, so if you need any they are there. Got a feeling when this bite gets really good. We will be out of baits as usual. 7 fish with 3 real nice keepers on the Stickbait. Did not catch any in Arkansas, caught them all on the Missouri Side. Fished little cuts and major cove points with the boat in about 25 ft. Bite seemed to be halfway back to the boat. Decided to turn the bend and go back out toward the 86 Bridge to a point I like. Cold Wind was a howling and the surface temp was 44.3. Did not get a bite on my secret spot. Went back up Long Creek and loaded the boat, just as it was getting dark. Still don't believe the fish are up on the bank, still staging. You just cannot pick a bank and go down the entire bank and hope to catch anything, or that the next cast you will catch one. This is not going to work this time of the year. You need to fish locations. Transitions, Timbered Points, Rocky Rolloffs, Channel Swings. Have a reason to stop. Don't stay to long. As for the most part there are not a ton of fish in each location. Yes if your in dream land you may find an Elier location. I'm not that lucky. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Just yakin your chain a little there. We've never met and I shouldn't pick on you like that, but, that is the type of mistake I would make. I'm sure you were trying to post in the Table Rock section. Otherwise,,, I want to know exactly what kinda rod and reel your using to cast that far !!! I'm heading out to Pomme tomorrow (Sunday, 14th) And I'll let you know how it went. I've always fished the eastern arm and put in at Nemo or Pittsburg park and never did any good. Tomorrow I think I'll put in at Bolivar park and fish the western arm. If anyone has been doing any good over that way, I'd sure like to here about it. I'm a little worried about the water level being down because of work on the dam. If the water level is so low a person can't launch from Bolivar park, It would save me allot of gas and $$ to hear about it before tomorrow mornin (3:30 am). . conman Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Put in today at Bolivar Landing. Slow at first, picked up around noon. sent down into the river and ended up doing pretty well on the bluffs on plastics and jigs. Had the lake to ourselves. It was cold and wet, but ended up keeping it interesting with about 20 fish, 3 keepers and my buddy lost what had to be a 4 at the boat. I will be at it again tomorrow. Good luck all! Chris

Chris DANG IT !!! I KNEW THE FISH WOULD BE BITING. I made the mistake of taking a fair weather fishing buddy with me today. We were on the water at day break and a couple hours later he decided it was to cold and wet to fish,,, "WWWWwwaaaa !!! I get up at 3:30 am to take him fishing and drive from Lebanon and he gives up on me a couple hours into the day. And now you say the fish were biting. Man,,, talk about rubbing salt in a wound,,LOL !! Lesson learned. I know of one guy that wont be in my boat again. I think I'll be busy with,,, something,,,, this summer when he asks to go fishing! Glad you had a good day Chris. Keep up with the reports. Solus_vero ,,,,,,,,,,,,, Latin for - " Only The Truth"

conman Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 JBrant, My temp gauge is not working, cant help you there. The Corp is showing the surface temp at the dam to be 40 deg. If anyone fished the main lake this past weekend I would love to get a report. I will be down again this weekend and would rather not trailer 30 mins to the river. I went out again Sunday for a couple hours and had decent results. Three of us fished for about 4 hours and ended up with 15 fish with 5 keepers, two over 15". It looks like about a 15 boat tourny launched out of Bolivar Landing, I will be curious to see the results. Chris
