hello. we went to destin last june and were told to go to the aquarium and they have a pier there to fish off of. it does costs to go on the pier but we did it. we rented their fishing gear i think it was 16 dollars for one child and that included 1 tub of frozen shrimp rod and real. kids had a blast and caught fish too. the earlier the better. justmy two cents worth.

Fishing in Destin can be fun and inexpensive. I fish off the jetties and have success. Never know what you will catch, but my favorite is Spanish Mackeral. A guy showed me a rig using a plastic bubble filled partially with water, trebel hook, and a drinking straw. Cast it out as far as possible and crank FAST. You cannot reel it in to fast. They will hammer it. I would have never believed using a straw as a lure. I think White Bass would go for it when they are chasing shad. I will try it.

Nobody mentioned bass fishing.

The biggest bass I've ever caught (26") was from a pond in Destin.

There's a small bait shop that sells live shiners, fish them under a ballon.

Its all bank fishing, so you gotta beware of those toothy critters.

Destin has some 15# bass swimming around in shallow crystal clear water.

There's a public lake near the beach in San Destin, Campbell Lake.

Its really clear, deep and full of grass.

Don't fish after dark or you might be gator bait.
