Members Jeff Burkhart Posted March 16, 2010 Members Posted March 16, 2010 The whites have started biting pretty good over the last couple of weeks here on Bull Shoals, So I figured I had better get this thread started so we all have one place to go to see how their doing. Last week they were on in Beaver, caught fish clear up to Sanders bluff hole on Thur evening but then old mother nature hit and the bottom fell out. Went again Sunday and caught a few fish in Cedar creek but nothing to get to excited about. My brother came down yesterday and we were going to try and grab some suckers up on T-Tables.. Idiots every where, found some fish but the wind decided better then one group of guys with 5 trucks in the group all crossed the creek not once but twice... I'll wait till everyone has forgot about grabbn before I go get me a mess of big Yellas. So we hooked up the boat and fished hard in Beaver, Cedar, Snap, and The Johnson hole think we ended up with 9 whites and a keeper kentucky... better than getting skunked but nuthn to write home about
JohnP Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Fished Beaver last friday night from 9:30 to 2am in the drizzle. fished from the first bend up to maiden bottoms and the only spot we had any bites was in the sanders bluff hole area. Ended up with 7 total all in the 1 1/2 to 2 pound range and all were released to be caught again. All caught swimming minnows on smoke-red metal flake and smoke-purple metal flake on the bottom. That was only bait that was getting any hits, fished sliders, twisters, maribu's, crankbaits and rattle traps with nothing. The fish we did catch were all on or near the bottom draggin' the swimmin' minnows.
Members Jeff Burkhart Posted March 18, 2010 Author Members Posted March 18, 2010 Got to Sanders bluff about 6 this evening... people started pulling out at dark and then it was on caught 13 big sows until about 9 then it was done.Smoke sliders, and grape neon buddy of mine caught a 24" walleye and a few short ones right at dark just down from the bluffs
Members joefish Posted March 19, 2010 Members Posted March 19, 2010 You kind of lost me when you started talking about grabbin suckers. I guess being from up north makes me a little ignorant about what you guys are doing for fun down there. Probing the depths, driving lunkers from their homes!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 19, 2010 Root Admin Posted March 19, 2010 Sanders Bluff... that's a new one for me. Where is that?
JohnP Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Sanders Bluff... that's a new one for me. Where is that? Phil, that would be the rock bluffs/edges at the end of Sanders Road. Not really much of a bluff, but it's still a decent drop if one were to fall off of it. Fished the k-dock area this evenin' and from 6:45 to 7:30 it was on. Didn't have a bite from 6:15 to 6:45 and then it was fish on on just about every cast in the backs of the coves that the sun had been shinning on. Shaded banks = no fish. but as soon as it got dark the bite seemed to end or atleast slow way down. Ended up with 20 fish kept, all in the 1 pound to 2 pound range and released another 10 to 15 smaller fish. 95% of the fish caught were on a smoke, red metal flake smoke, and/or purple metal flake smoke color swimmin' minnow, one of my boys did manage to catch a couple on small white single blade crappie spinner bait. Water temp was 52 degrees. Talked to another boat that had very similar results but caught all theirs on white sliders.
Paco Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 3/19/10 1st boat in at beaver, fished for wallys at mouth of creek, nothing went up cedar, threw warts, nothing went to mouth of creek,3 other boats there, saw a few small whites being caught ever now and then, no wind, sun coming up. beautiful... Finally found some nice whites(8)in the Power Line area. Had 1 that nearly went 4lbs on the old scales. Fish were coming out of 30 ft channel up to 15-17 on the flat. 1/4 jig head with white swimm'n minnow. Wind came up, lost the fish, couldn't find them on the sonar. Quit fish'n about 12:30 Paco
JohnP Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Fished K-dock cove again this evenin' and again the bite was on from about 6:45 to 7:30pm. After 8pm it shut down till we finally gave it up at 10:30 without another fish on. Most fish caught on a white slider, but also caught a good number of fish on the smoke colored swimmin' minnows. Ended the evenin' with 28 whites in the livewell and released another 10 or so, also caught 4 short LM, 2 short smallies, and a 12 inch walleye. Talked to a guy that fished Yandell and Deer Lane coves and said the fish were there as well but hard to fish with the wind white cappin' the water in those coves.
Members Jeff Burkhart Posted March 25, 2010 Author Members Posted March 25, 2010 Its back on boys... Last night was in Swan and caught some good fish.. tonight was in slough holler and every cast had a fish on.. Caught some of the biggest sows I've caught in my life, Still hittn on white sliders slow rolln, grey 1/16 oz jigs and minnows . Get out and catch some before there gone.. Still think the fish are just starting. the fish I caught tonite was a fresh wave of fish from the main lake they were almost blueish in color from coming from the deep water
FRENZEL Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Guess I shoulda waited for the PM.. Sorta knew it. Was a little dirty downstream and we also didn't fish the prime time. The boys wanted to trout fish the evening after a slow time @ snapp and cedar yesterday. Bet the water was a lot better up Beaver huh.
