Members cyclonebass Posted March 25, 2010 Members Posted March 25, 2010 I'm just writing to say I am totally pumped about getting to fish in the AIA tournament this weekend. It has been a long winter in Iowa with more snow than I have ever seen in my 36yrs. With how bad the winter had been, I still find it hard to believe I am fishing tomorrow. My partner has never been to TR, so I hope the poor conditions change so that he can experience the Rock in its true glory. I only have experience fishing around the dam, so I might need to make my first trip up one of the rivers to find warmer water. I have been hearing a lot about Aunt's Creek. Should I try there? We will be fishing out of a white Stratos with black and gold stripes & 225 Evinrude on it. I hope to meet some of you at the tournament. If I find some fish, I will be sure to post a report and maybe I will no longer be considered a lurker.

I know I brought a few first timers down last March and we had a VERY tough go of it. (rain/snow/sleet while outfishing!) Anywho, we'll be back for more in a month or so; also hoping for good conditions/fishing. - I don't think anyone would consider you a lurker. And with that 225, you should be able to get from the dam to Aunt's creek lickety-split!

My buddy from Des Moines and his friend (the other EP from Iowa on this forum) are also coming down. My buddy's parents own a resort on Indian Point, which explains my dam area experience.

Members cyclonebass Posted March 28, 2010 Author Members Posted March 28, 2010 Unfortunatly, I will not be making it to the tournament tomorrow. The hydraulic steering in my boat sprung a leak and it is no loger safe to drive at high speeds. When I trim my motor up, the hyrdualic line brushes up against the transom and it somehow loosened the fitting enough to allow air into the system. I know how to fix the problem, but don't have the tools or hydraulic fluid to fix it here. As for my fishing, it has been slow since I am limited to the indian point area. I did catch a real nice 5.5 lb smallie and a kentucky, and nothing else.
