Members timr0123 Posted March 26, 2010 Members Posted March 26, 2010 I am seriously looking at buying a new Z7 Nitro and would like to know if any members have one or know someone who does. I've done all my online research but would really like to speak with an expert, a real owner. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Dutch Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I'd be looking at a ride in one before I put any money down. I have never enjoyed the Nitro ride and the box tops seem flimzy to me. I think they look a lot better than they actually are.
Members BIG K Posted March 27, 2010 Members Posted March 27, 2010 two of my good friends have Nitros one a z9 the other a z7 both wish they had there money back. both boats look great and have lots of little gizmo appeal but over all quality could use some seriuos work. i dont want to start a war here but there are other boats out there more worth the money.
Members timr0123 Posted March 28, 2010 Author Members Posted March 28, 2010 Thanks for the advise guys. I wouldn't buy a boat without a test drive first. My father in law has a Nitro 929 which is now called the Z8. The only problem he has had is with the latches on the storage compartment doors. Several of them have been damaged when he didn't flip them back down after opening and stepped on them. Besides the latches he hasn't had any other problems. I would prefer the buy a Ranger but I don't have the extra $10,000 to spend.
techo Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I would never knock any boat as everyone likes something different When you are talking money though....Nitro has a good price point and easier to get into, but the re-sell value is seriously lacking. If it really only cost 10 grand more for a Ranger, then look at re-sell value. You will get that back out of a boat down the road anyway. Nitros serve their purpose and some folks love them. I just have never met one of those folk yet. Tim Carpenter
DChance Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 There is absolutely nothingwrong with Nitro. I have my 2010 Z7 coming in about a week. I have owned a 2002 901 also. Like stated before, if everyone liked the same thing there would only be one boat option. as far as the z7, you will not find another boat that comes close to it when comparing price. Nitros quality is also drastically improved over the last even 5 years. they make as good a boat as anybody. I laugh at all the Nitro bashing that goes on because some knew a guy whose college roommate's babysitter had one....and it was junk. YOU ride and decide.

Have a friend who is a local pro and on the Nitro Team though. Stand by my earlier statement. Good price point. Tim Carpenter
Members timr0123 Posted May 4, 2010 Author Members Posted May 4, 2010 After much research and thought I decided against a brand new boat. I found a GREAT DEAL on a 2006 Bass Cat Sabre. Very low hours and in perfect shape. I researched Bass Cat and really liked what I found out about them. They are one of the last family owned boat manufacturers and have a great warranty. I would recommend anyone to try one out.
