Chief Grey Bear Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 So do you have anything to dispute the facts I presented? If Ronnie did not loosen regulations, GM and others would have been out of business a long time ago. Lets see, 1993 Chevy CK1500, radio and climate control made in Mexico, truck assembled in Canada, what American built my truck? By the way, climate control was replaced after a month of ownership. Nope. You can't argue with Heritage.org and the facts as they print them. jdmidwest Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Well, I thought Phil banned political discussion at the request of Thom last year. But Thom has to start a thread with the word "Government Bailout" in it, purely political. There should have been a red button pushed at the start. No offense to Thom and his opinion, but. bigredbirdfan Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I support unions even though I'm not in one. I always buy American if the product is comparable in price and quality to a foreign one. I think our economy's greatest problem is that we manufacture almost nothing here anymore because big corporations export the labor to places where they can exploit the desperate situation those people are in. Until we open the factories back up and start making things again, paying workers livable wages and begin rebuilding the middle class (like we did in the 40s and 50s), our country will continue to slide into inferiority. The top 5% richest Americans own 95% of the wealth. Greed is killing our country. Maybe 95% aren't as smart as the 5%. Maybe 95% spend ever last penny of their paychecks like drunken sailors and 5% save 99 cents out of every dollar. Maybe the 5% put their money on the line so the 95% can have a job. And maybe just maybe the 5% will have enough of supporting the have nots in the country and stop working and footing the bill for all this crap.
eric1978 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Sorry BRF, but it's really naive to think that most of the 5% WORKED for what they have. It's OLD money, and most of them are born with it. You're never going to be a billionaire...why do you care how much taxes they pay? And remember, not too long ago, they were paying upwards of 90%...and that's when our economy was booming, so you can't make the argument that taxing the rich is bad for the economy. What's bad for the economy is when the vast majority of consumers don't have enough money to consume, and the few people with all the money have it all tied up in stocks, bonds and off-shore accounts. I'm sure you agree.

I'm sure you agree. Your dead wrong eric. Most of the richest Americans earned it. Take a look. Most of them earned it through hard work. I'm sure you would agree. Gates, Ellison, Buffett...all hard workers that started with squat. http://www.forbes.co...tml?partner=aol BTW what right do you have to say someone else didn't work really hard to pass down that money to their heirs? Class evny plan and simple. It's what espires me to work hard to some day be like them. Not to hate them because of their success. I'm done with this stuff. BTW Thom was right the FED did post a 50 billion profit last year. Maybe we could apply that to the 12 trillion dollar debt.

YOU THOUGHT???????????? You are a liar and have just stated a untruth. I did not ask Phil to ban anything nor would I. THE FORUM IS HIS PROPERTY. Ask Him if you are interested in fact which you obviously are not. IN the word of Ron White the commedian. "next time you have a thought let it go" Personal attacts and inuendo such as the type you imply with half truths is the only thing that Phil has ever banned and you make it clear as to why. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 1, 2010 Root Admin Posted April 1, 2010 Fishing is awfully good for you guys to be kicking each other around... again. And for the most part it's the same old crowd too, I might add. You're not going to change minds here - especially the way you all go about it... and especially each others. Sorry Trav, you should have jumped in while you had a chance.
