Lower Bull Shoals White Bass And Walleye

I have been following the white bass and walleye reports on upper Bull Shoals with interest. Are there any similar runs on any of the creeks at the dam end of the lake? I have property in the Oakland area (Gulley Spring branch) and was curious about white bass and walleye on some creeks on lower Bull Shoals.

I will be down in about two weeks. Any suggestions for crappie, white bass or walleye near Oakland. Thanks for any suggestions, I have a lot to learn and am excited about years of learning the lake.

Any of the bigger creeks should have a few whites in them. They don't all migrate 70 miles to get to Beaver Creek.

I read some discussion of white bass in Howard, Jimmy, Sugar Loaf and Bear creeks. Do you have any experience with any of them for white bass?

Yes in Sugar loafs and Bear but I don't call that lower Bull Shoals. I call that mid lake.

I'm getting a few accident walleye while bass fishing, BUT They aren't quite 18 inches. I'd love to know how to get a few walleye in the magical > 18 inch size.

The white bass bite is very good right now on the lower end of Bull Shoals. We caught 20+ yesterday on 4" swimmin' minnows in about a hour and a half. We were using smoke / silver flake and clear / blue flake on 1/8 jig heads. Just swim it near the bush in pockets where the wind is blowing and the sun is shinning. We left them still biting and went bass fishing. The lizard & gitiz bite is real good right now also with green pumkin 6" lizards working well in deeper water and puke colored gitiz up near the brush. Lots of keeper walleyes are being caught at night on supending stickbaits, but the daytime bite is still slow the water temp yesterday was 65.

I caught three 16 inch walleyes on road runner with curly tail on point at about 8 foot late one evening. How deep would you fish the suspended stick baits and in what areas at night. The bait had to be on the very bottom to get any bite for me.

I will fish there again this weekend.

I fished last week and caught 3 21"-25" walleyes and a couple of keeper bass on suspending stickbaits at night. Most of the hits I had were while fishing pretty much paralel to the bank with the boat in 10-20 fow. I like a 5" bait which runs about 4-5 foot deep. Try to pick a south facing point or bank with deep water near by. When the moon is high in the sky the fish are often suspended out away from the bank as well as being in the shallow water near the bank, be sure to work your bait all the way back to the boat as often the walleye will hit right at the boat.

I made a day/night trip with cajunangler on Wednesday. I wish we could have stayed longer beacuse we stumbled onto a group of fish and I would have liked to try a couple of more spots like that area before we came in.

We got 3 keeper walleye > 20 inches and had a bunch of nice fish besides that. Kinda chilly, but we dressed for it.

I got out for walleyes from about 4:30PM till the weather chased me off the lake about 9PM 5/1/10. Caught about 10-12 walleyes on B/B & crawler b4 dark with 1-19" and 1-19" after dark on a stickbait. The B/B fish all seemed to be in the back of south facing coves in 15-22 FOW. The stickbait fish was on a south facing point on about 8 FOW.
