HA HA HA HOLY CRAP! I hooked one on a synthetic craw-fish and I was hoping that even if i did have a gar hit my line (cause i was just fishing for bass) I only wanted to catch an average to small sized Gar (just to say I did it and well lets just say I didnt get my wish... I hooked a 4 foot long beast! On top of that the bank I was fishing off of had a 2 foot drop off and I was by my self and HA HA HA Im not gonna jump in after it. But now Iv got the fever to catch one. So thanks for the advice everyone.

I believe that fishing is usually better when there is a full moon. People are more crazy when there is a full moon. Thank God He made fish the way He did so I can have better fishing when people are crazier than normal.

I got another question. Does anyone know what type of gar are found in Bolivar MO. Im fishing in the Pomme River if that helps. I think that it looks a lot like long-nose but Im not sure.

We were at the Pomme marina when I was around 12 years old for lunch. You could see the gar swimming all over the place. There was a mother duck and 10 ducklings swimming around the dock eating bread crumbs. All of a sudden the water exploded and the ducks scattered. There were 9 ducklings left...

Could have been a muskie that ate the duckling.

So I've heard how to catch them (nylon rope), how to clean them (steaks or backstraps), but how do you cook them? Fry like any other rough fish? Or bake, broil, or grill it?
