:yellowcard: Went out of Big Cedar yesterday with Brian and his two boys; Cooper and Logan from Lexington, KY. Had 14 fish with four keepers in four hours. Mostly KY's but did have one brown fish. Everything on 4" smoke grubs on 1/4 oz. heads, all on windy, gravel and mixed gravel / rock points, 6' - 20' deep. Moss seems to be breaking up in some areas, others...... not so much. Eight other guides out of Big Cedar, all reported similar success on similar locations. Things are starting to pick up on the lower end. :)

The info is much appreciated. Headed down Friday and pretty much planned on fishing a grub. Taking my dad so hopefully I can put him on some fish.

Great report, thanks eric. I have a question for you pro's. Where did the stick bite go? Seems it didnt ever really start this year. Was it because of the massive shad kill, I would have thought that the kill would have helped.

Hey Jason,

The stickbait bite is still there, you just need to move the bait a lot faster. Most of the guides don't use them on trips becuase the idea of three or four jerkbaits being thrown at once is a little scary. As far as other anglers are concerned most prefer to throw a wiggle wart or a spinnerbait instead, they cover water more efficiently.

The shad kill really won't have much of a lasting effect now that it is over. A small shad kill is great, a massive one like we had will actually hurt an area as the fish will stuff themselves and become inacactive. Going forward the bite should stabilize around the lake. If we can get rid of the moss it should be an awsome spring.

Fished Baxter area Friday and Sunday a.m.

Friday - 13 short fish mixed bag----- 2 of us in about 4 hours of fishing

Easter a.m. by myself - 9 fish with 2 keepers, 1 spot and 1 smallie

All fish were on stick bait both days.Tried a wart and a jig but no takers.

Stick was only productive lure.

Found 56 degree water and that made the difference as most of the area was at about 53 degrees early.

Fish were in cove mouths in about 7-12'

Glad that shad kill is over, it was like all the fish left the lake for a while.

Good fishin to ya all
