Bill Babler Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 HydroTec Marine Performance in Nixa, Mo. works on mercury also and they do some very good work. 725-5714 Just ask for Matt and he will get you in and get it fixed. Gary is correct, and they are very good and probably the nicest bunch of guys around. Shop rate however is 90 bucks an hour, and I know if you are talking about an older motor, some of the locals Like Langly are less than 1/2 that, and can fix most any problem on the older mercs. As of just a month ago, Danny Vasques was traveling with the Bassmaster Elite tour. He may not be now, I don't know. If you can get him, you have the best. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Members trambia Posted April 13, 2010 Author Members Posted April 13, 2010 hey thanks for all the replys, i took it down to bill vance this morning, the motor is now making a whistleing whining sound, i think it is the compressor. only had the boat out once, now i owe 28000 dollars for a broke dowm merc, loveley lol. i guess i should have learned my lesson from the other garbage mercs ive had. so after i let the boat go back to the bank ill be looking for a older bass boat with a yamaha, or evenrude for cash lol. oh and stay away from pros choice marine in warsaw. they either didnt check the motor out or just unloaded it on me.
Hunter91 Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Sorry to hear that trambia. I bought my boat two years ago and after two trips the motor threw a rod. Had to buy another. Now it is having some oil issues. Danny is working on it this week.
Cajunangler Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I would assume since you are looking to pay someone that the answer to the following question is "NO" but is the motor completely out of warranty? You mentioned you spent a little more to get a "newer" rig and based on the amount I would assume it to be no more that 3-4 years old. I know the rig I just purchased has motor warranty for 3 more years and it was a 2007 model year. Just a thought based on your comment about cost and condition. I thought most Merc's sold in the last several years were coming with 5 years of warranty. As to letting it go back to the bank because the motor is broken, unfortunately that is the attitude that is making it harder and harder for folks to get loans at reasonable rates. Sure the bank will right off the note but they will get their money back from somewhere or someone else. But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do! If you want to attempt and get some satisfaction from someone that might be responsible write Mercury Marine a nice letter explaining what happened and see if they are willing to step up to the plate. Just a thought.
Members beezerbassman Posted April 13, 2010 Members Posted April 13, 2010 I would recommend Mike at top gun in nixa. Great guy and very honest.
CaptainJoe Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I know that I am a little biased since Ulrich Marine in Branson West is my sponsor. But, they are my sponsor because they do a great job for a reasonable cost. They have professionally handled all of my marine needs. They have extensive experience with Mercury and I trust that they can diagnose and fix your problems. Tell Fred Ulrich Joe sent you. See their Internet Link below my signature. Good luck!!!! Members trambia Posted April 13, 2010 Author Members Posted April 13, 2010 cajunangler sorry by not making myself clear but i was being sarcastic about letting it go back to the bank;) not only would that ruin my credit but they would also sell it cheap and stick me with the rest. anyway it is getting looked at as we speak. just wanted to tell everyone thanks for the replys. hopefully i can be back on the water soon
Cajunangler Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Sorry about assuming the worst, but the "written" word does not allow for the detection of sarcasm. And given my past history of working in the financial world I have seen far too many people that expected the bank to forgive their payments due to the used car they bought not working. And they were even more surprised when they were sued after having the car repossessed. Anyway, good luck with the motor fix. Hopefully nothing too expensive to get repaired. And let us all know what it was in case we experience the same symptoms.
