Members naru70
I have used a double uni, a blood knot and a surgeons knot without any success. All line seems to break at the knot when jerked by hand. Ive even tried 12lb mono without success. I even have some fireline that will break the same way tied direct to jig. podum
I've never had a problem using back to back uni knots with powerpro/fireline tied to mono and flurocarbon. Key for me is to wet the lines and go slow with the cinch. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
Mitch f
double uni always works for me too! wet the knots and if you have dissimilar diameters, double the thickness of the thin line. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
DChance
Uni to Uni or Alberto's knot. I learned with the Uni to Uni not to cince either knot down until the very end and be sure they are both very wet. Cince really slowly. Albertos knot is easy too. rps
I also vote for the Alberto. Look it up, practice it, and you will be very happy with the results.
Dutch
I switched to the Alberto's knot 2 years ago and have not looked back. I have had no knot failures since I went to it.
lonkm
I used to have the same trouble. I found a new knot on the internet. Don't remember the name but it is very simple to tie and hasn't broken yet. Here is how to tie it. Run both lines parallel, then make a loop by moving the tag ends back toward the rod. Put a finger in the loop you just made. Twist 3 times , then run the tag ends back through the loop. Wet and tighten by holding the tag ends and the main line. Members naru70
Thanks everyone. Im still having problems, but i will keep trying. Must be doing something really wrong. I have tried it mostly on fireline. Dont seem to have any problems on mono to mono.
Gavin
Try a triple surgeons knot...Used to use uni to uni but its a PIA to tie. Its an absolute no brainer, and no problems so far. Cheers.
Members Greg_s
For a mono leader to braid, I use either the Albright Knot http://www.netknots....ht_special.html or the Seaguar Knot. http://www.netknots....aguar_knot.html For general braid to lure knots I use either the Palomar knot http://www.netknots....lomar_knot.html or the San Diego Jam Knot with 4 turns. http://www.netknots....o_jam_knot.html The San Diego Jam Knot, aka Reverse Uni Knot is by and far my favorite general purpose fishing knot. I tests around 96% for mono, flourocarbon and braid. It is also very easy to tie once it has been done a couple of times.
