TroutRinger Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I would be interested in knowing more about this creek as well. "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot."
Members smallwaterpro Posted December 19, 2012 Members Posted December 19, 2012 I lived in Walnut shade for years and fished on foot most of Bull Creek. It is full of small smallmouth Bass. Biggest I caught was 16 inches. Rough little stream, but so beautiful. the lower end dumps into Tanycomo and that area is deep and clear and full of bass. Go uplake from Rockaway beach launch a little ways and turn right into Bull creek arm. Good stuff. Be carefull of the Walnut Shade roving Theifs.
TroutRinger Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Wow, old post back from the grave. ...if anyone is interested in an exploratory wade or float this spring, let me know. Wayne SW/MO Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 It has been exceptionally low the last couple of years. When there is water people often launch at Walnut Shade and take out at Rockaway Beach. It is a long paddle through Taneycomo however, but not trip killer. The fish in this part of the country seem to abandon the creeks that get low in the winter for the comfort of the lakes where possible. Mid to late spring they return like salmon. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Coach B Posted December 19, 2012 Members Posted December 19, 2012 Do many trout run up Bull Creek in the winter months? Might be kinda fun to chase them in some skinny water?
duckydoty Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 yes A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 double yes to the trout coming in Bull Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
cullinby9 Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Bull creek is a little different than most of the creeks around the lower sections are great fishing with steep gradient when there is enough water in bull to float a person should be somewhat experianced in white water paddling. Watch the gauge at walnut shade if its above 4.5 ft. then its getting close to being more of a white water trip. Anything below and your good down to about 3.5 ft otherwise its a wade stream Swan and beaver are good fishing to but no trout however the whites run up both those streams.
