Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 14, 2010 Root Admin Posted May 14, 2010 Gravel points... 10-15 feet of water... drop a cricket or night crawler straight down to the bottom and crank it up one turn. Move around some on the point. If one point doesn't work, move to another. Point 5 is a great point. I use my trout rig- 4 lb line, small split shot and #8 hook.

Thanks Ice jigs tipped with wax worms under a spring loaded pencil float, no weight. The jig will sink slowly, and the float will lay flat on the water. When that float stands up, a fish has taken the bait so set the hook. Been a killer technique in the northwoods (WI) for years. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
jdmidwest Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Crickets worked great last Sunday at a local lake, we caught a nice mess of Redear, a few Bluegills and one Channel Cat.
