BrianS Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 How many of you all grow gardens? I enjoy gardening "almost" as much as fishing here is my garden so far. I'll keep this thread updated as time goes on. This year I am only growing the Yukon Gold taters. They are our favorites and are doing very well. Here are garden peas and lettuce Brocoli and cabbage Here are my maters. Still small but just now starting to grow. I am taking Train's advice and growing the Amish Paste this year! I'm sure he will be proud of me hehe. Other maters include: KBX (bet you never would have guessed that!), Cherokee Chocolate, Ark Traveler, Sioux, Earl's Faux, Black from Tula, Russian 117. I have 53 mater plants this year. jdmidwest Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Mine is doing good also. Picking 2 qts of strawberries a day off a 6x6 patch. Lettuce has been plentiful. Corn is looking good. Squash and tomatoes have been slow, too cool. Replanted last week and beans, okra, more squash, cucumbers all starting to come up fine. It needs the warm weekend we are about to get. BrianS Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 I'm waiting for it to dry up so I can plant my corn. Weeds are about to take over where my corn will grow. HOOK 'EM HORNS
Members Wormser Posted May 27, 2010 Members Posted May 27, 2010 Nice, keep the updates coming. I grow pumpkins, cucs, squash and tomatoes myself.
Quillback Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 My beans are now starting to bloom, I'm trying the purple variety this year. Planted several Patio tomatoe plants in containers, plants are doing well, and some small green tomatoes are starting to show. Got some crooked neck squash plants that are getting some of that gray mildew or whatever it is on the leaves. Don't know what to do about that. Cantaloupe is slow this year, but maybe with this hot weather they will take off.
ness Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 It's been a bumper crop this year -- for weeds. I spent the bulk of yesterday getting on top of that. But everything's looking pretty good. Great year for lettuce with the cool temps and rain. Tried a new variety of spinach ("America") and it was a bust. Getting some small peppers and maters. Radishes are ready. John
Paola Cat Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 My containerized patio tomatoes are looking good and starting to turn color. The Romas are coming on strong too. Cheers. PC
BrianS Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 The brocoli is ready to pick now here is the caihua. its the first time I have ever seen it grow. I think my panels need to be taller though. Here is one of my 12 KBX maters. Cant wait to slice one of those orange fruits of heavenly delight! HOOK 'EM HORNS
