Sharps4590 Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Got up early this morning....drove to Little Piney...forgot camera....creek very full....fell in....got skunked....came home Still had a great time! Vic I'd rather live my entire life, living as if there is a God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there isn't, than to live my entire life as if there is no God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there is.
eric1978 Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 We floated Milldam to Newburg Friday. Yeah, water's up a bit and a little murky. No trout for us either. A few smallmouth here and there, lost a couple pigs right at the canoe, both 18"+. Not the greatest stretch I've ever floated, but worth doing once for sure. About half the float was muddy banks.
Wheatenheimer Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Yep, this just proves that I will fish with absolutely anyone! Actually had a great time with Eric on Friday. Despite his reputation, he didn't whine or even try to pick a fight with me once!
Sharps4590 Posted May 31, 2010 Author Posted May 31, 2010 You were at the very tail end of the trout water and it depends on how long it's been since they stocked it. I don't know the last time. You have to get in there before the worm drowners and power bait users cuz the fish don't last very long over there...rules don't matter much. There are some good smallies in there but I usually find them farther down than Newburg. It's cleared up a lot since Friday and gone down some judging from your pictures. I usually do ok over there but not today. I guess they just weren't biting because my wife went about the same time this morning that I did only she went over to the neighbors lake to catch us a mess of bluegill. She got skunked too..and she almost always catches fish. Vic I'd rather live my entire life, living as if there is a God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there isn't, than to live my entire life as if there is no God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there is.

ozark trout fisher Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I like the Milldam Hollow area down for smallies a lot myself. It's getting pretty late in the year though for the trout that far downstream-if the water isn't too warm already it will be soon.

Gavin Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Thats a nice float...havent done it in a few years but its always fun. Lots of little bass and the occassional big one. Thanks for the report.

I have to say I was a little underwhelmed by large portions of that stretch, and somewhat surprised to hook into such nice fish. I don't need great scenery when there are pigs to cast at. Now I just need to get the braid off my spinnerbait rod so I can land the things.
