Actually Clinton wasn't elected until 1992.

Right you are.

I was just checking to see if anyone was paying attention. :D

I will weigh in on this with my purely uneducated opinion....well sort of. The BOP failed because the BP company man on the rig didn't listen to the transocean(who actually owned the rig) rep who was told by the Schulemberger guys that something was seriously wrong with the well. The BP guy told them to keep drilling, the Schulemberger guys left and 6 hours later the rig blew up.

IMO BP is ultimately to blame. I dont understand why nObama "forced" BP to pay the 20 billion. Within a week of the explosion I read reports from BP saying they would pay for everything. I imagine it is pure posturing to make nObama look like he has a clue what he is doing. One thing I actually agree on is a moratorium on drilling but only so all the deep water rigs can be checked out thoroughly by someone qualified.

As to our dependence on oil, alternative fuels are a pipe dream right now. Ethanol is hard on engines and unsustainable for the US economy. We could NEVER produce enough ethanol to kick the fossil fuel habit and feed the country. Saying oil is evil and we should just quit it cold turkey is a incredibly stupid thing to say. It is involved in every aspect of our lives.

everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

At first I wasn't going to reply because of your childish "nObama" but I think you need to be enlightend.

During the 2000 campaigns, Al Gore told us he was in favor of pursuing tax breaks for industries to invest in alternative fuel sources. Instead, a less than majority of the people, voted for George W. Bush, and the government ended up giving those tax breaks to big oil.

As for forcing BP to pay that $20 billion, what would you have said if he said; "Oh, it's ok if you haven't paid anything to the people along the gulf who haven't gotten a penny of the money you promised."? You would be outraged that he'd be letting them off the hook. And the reason they are going after BP to pay the $20 billion is becaue they haven't paid anything to those people down there like they promised they would.

As for quitting oil "cold turkey," who said anything of the sort? What has been said is it's time to wake the **** up and get off of the oil dependency. How many more oil spills do we have to survive before we start developing alternative fuels? 50? 100? 5,000? No. It's time has come and as soon as all of us realize that, the better off we will all be. Quit defending the oil company whores and show your support for the environment that you depend upon to hunt and fish.

I have been editing out all of the disrespectful candidates names on this forum for the last time.

Any more edits required and I will delete the entire posts. I have made this clear before on my watch.

Say what you want with reasonable content but be respectful of anyones name. Obscene and obscene references are also being edited. If anyone is upset about this then I would suggest you complain to Phil. Thank you.

Both parties are in the pocket of big oil. To pretend otherwise is folly. Just do some research on how much $$ big oil is giving both democrats and republicans.

Both parties are incompetent - again, to pretend otherwise is folly.

recommending a close of topic.
