I posted this in the crooked creek forum but got no response so I figured I would try here. The wife and I are wanting to make a two day float this weekend and crooked creek is the best place I can think of(everywhere else will be packed) I was thinking of puttig in at Bruno and floating to the slab.

I would think there will be considerable amounts of walking at the present water levels. For, me CC has a pretty narrow range where it's good floating and good fishing. I look for between 13.25 to 12.25.

It you don't mind some walking the fishing can be pretty decent at low water levels.

When you say Bruno, do you mean launch at the Hwy 62 bridge near Pyatt?

If so, that's almost 20 miles in 2 days. More than I want to try to cover in 2 days considering I think there will be walking and how slowly I fish.

The wife will not be interested in picking up the canoe and carrying it I dont think. guess the only place left to float nearby will be southfork.

I was at the park in Yellville Saturday and saw several canoes... I'm sure there are some low spots but thats when the fishing is best. There has been plenty of rain the last couple days so I'm certain its easily floatable now.

BTW, best day of fishing I've ever done

Check the USGS guages and see if the river got a bump from recent rainfall. The ground was pretty dry so I'm not sure how much runoff there will be.

I think there would be some extra work to the float, but I would expect the fishing to be good.

I don't need a lot of bass, just a dinner...and the limit is 2 over 14 I believe. It was me and a friend and and we easily caught dinner. We don't keep'em over 18 or under 15 or so. Going back this week to do an overnight run.
