Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 13, 2010 Root Admin Posted July 13, 2010 Here's one for ya - Mike Zimmer. The 33-year-old angler from Menomonie was fishing a lake in Menomonie on March 15 when he hooked a 4 pound, 5 ounce white crappie.
gotmuddy Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 now THAT is a slab! everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
ollie Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 That is one sweet crappie! They don't get much bigger than that! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
flytyer57 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Here's one for ya - Mike Zimmer. The 33-year-old angler from Menomonie was fishing a lake in Menomonie on March 15 when he hooked a 4 pound, 5 ounce white crappie. Yeah! Nice fish! So where exactly is this "Menomonie"? I know there is a Lake Menomin in Menomonie, WI and was just wondering cuz I've heard of big slabs being pulled from there. Never fished it cuz it was too far upstate for a daily drive and fish and drive home. The largest crappie I ever caught was an 18 incher from Lake Norfork. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Kayser Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Sorry Phil, but you got some bad info there. That is a black crappie from Lake Kinkaid, in Southern IL, caught in early March. The guy that caught it is from Waterloo, my home town. While I don't know him, I do remember when it was caught, as there were plenty of stories in magazines and local papers. Here is a thread about it on another site- http://www.muskyhunter.com/forum/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=101&topic_id=14603 Here's another article as well- http://www.iloutdoornews.com/articles/2010/04/08/top_news/news03.txt I think that there was also something about it in IL Game&Fish Magazine, but I'm not seeing it right now. But anyways, it's one heck of a crappie from one heck of a lake. Makes me wonder why I leave my home state... Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
T-RockJaws Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Doesn't matter much to me where it was caught, still one heck of a fish!
flytyer57 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Doesn't matter much to me where it was caught, still one heck of a fish! I wonder if it's a new state record? Maybe a world record? There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Trout Commander Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 looks like 2 oz shy of IL record, dunno about world. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 13, 2010 Author Root Admin Posted July 13, 2010 Reminds me of a game we played as kids - get in a big circle and whisper a "secret" to the person next to you and pass it on. When it comes back around, annouce the secret and see how it differs from the initial story. Pretty fun stuff. Works on the internet too, I guess. For sure it works in angling "circles".
