You are not only a Frayed Knot, but also a "Knot Head." :touched:

I just have a very hard time with tying that Stupid Blood knot and having it all pull together and getting the tagins in the hole. I know it is probably the strongest knot for joining two lines other than the Albright.

On a other note, I proudly had on my Missouri Bass Fishing Shirt today, that my buddy gave me. It not only look marvelious, but was. Thanks Denny.

PS, you are still do not have permission to fish above the Kimberling City Bridge. Champ and Donna have drawn the line on you.

Next time you and Jacky are down, we will get James and Donna and have a HOOT-IN-NANNY.

See you in a week or so.

Donna and I are definitely in for the HOOT-IN-NANNY. Hopefully I won't be down long from my surgery, which is Aug. 25. In fact, I have every intention of fishing the Central Pro-Am team championship Sept. 11-12 on Norfork. Might be relegated to fishing fairly close to takeoff, but it'll beat sittin' on the bank.

I have scouts patroling from KC bridge up both rivers and so far Denny hasn't breached conditions of his probation. I'm not soon forgettin' that "girly man river fish" comment. Perhaps we can get things straight if I can lure him up to Stockton with me for a day or two this coming week.

Donna,

I have been using the Double Uni knot. When you buy Fireline Crystal, it has instructions inside that shows you how to tie, what they call, a Uni-to-Uni know, but it is still the Double Uni. What is great about this knot, it is meant for lines of different diameter. Some other knots are for lines of the same diameter. This is what makes the Double Uni or Uni-to-Uni knot a good knot. I have been using it for years and when I get hung up and have to break the line, it RARELY breaks at the Uni knot connection, thus saving my leader. I use the Fish N Fool knot for tying to the hook/lure.

Bill....I am on year THREE on my braid. The stuff last along time. Best Braid: Spiderwire Invisi-Braid. 2ND BEST: Fireline Crystal. I do not use Mono for anything.

Donna,

As usual Joe is right on the money on the Double Uni. I love this knot, especially going from one diameter to another. I have never had it fail and with a little practice, its easy to tie. What helped me the most is to tie one line and than turn the lines end to end and tie the same knot. Then you are holding the line identical on both knots. I have found that five wraps works perfect with any line.

Thanks Joe for the tip on the Lowrance.......I'll give it a try.

Appreciate it guys. Think I'll give the Double Uni a try. Sounds like a lot of you use and like this knot for strength and relative ease of tying. Soon as this carpal tunnel eases up from 5 days at Stockton. :) Would have loved one of the nay-sayers that claim tournament fishing (and practice) is easy to have spent the last 5 days with me and Champ. I may never recover. lol

I posted the Stockton CPAA results on the Stockton forum. Of course you can go to CPAA's Web site and get all of them. You'll have to look WAY down the list to find me. :(

Mr. Davis,

Thank you for your inquiry. We suggest a Palomar knot.

Thank you,

Thinking that the above person did not read his question he called Berkley's 1-800 number and asked the same question and recieved the same answer after repeating the same question 3 times the lady on the service line gave the same answer.

I just thought this was funny, but if anyone can join two lines together using a palomar knot, please let me know so I can change my mind about the people at Berkly Customer Service.

That's a hoot, Stump Bumper. Glad the people making their Trilene line are more competent.

A Palomar? I use that on all my fluorocarbon and mono connections to baits and terminal tackle, but braid to fluoro? Champ's a Champ at the Palomar and can even join every end of a Carolina Rig using it, but I think the folks answering the phone at Berkley maybe have been given the wrong 'script'.

I've been trying various knots for braid to floro for a year or so. Here's a new one I just heard about from a fishing buddy. He ties an improved clinch knot in the end of the braid, leaving about a half inch loop. Then he ties the leader to the loop with a palomar knot. I tried it this morning (not fishing just testing the knot) with 8lb floro and it seems real strong. When you pull the palomar knot tight be extra careful, like most of us have learned. Then tighten the clinch knot. Makes a pretty small knot that goes through the guides well. I'll let you know how it goes when I put it to the real world test later this week.

I've used a knot for decades that is easy to tie and works flawlessly on all lines I've tried it on. I not only use it to put leaders to braid on bass rigs, but heavy leaders to heavy braid on catfish/carp rigs.

To tie it lay the two lines together in opposing directions, make a loop in them and then wrap one tag through the loop from the front three times. Take the second tag and wrap it from the rear of the loop three times. Carefully pull the four lines up tight and trim the tags. This knot, at least for me, has been so simple I can tie it anywhere.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
