Smalliebigs
After a torrent came down stream following the rain on Sunday night 07/18/2010, I had a couple of guys from this forum came out to my cabin on an unamed river in Missouri. I basicly gave them a guided trip on this unamed river that begins with an M, sometimes I like watching people catch them better than catching myself. I'm not trying to brag but both of these guys caught their personal best river smallies, I'm not saying I caught them but I showed them where to fish while I observed and drank my rum. I had planned to spend the whole week on the river but it was cut short by obligations out of my control in St.Louis, so I had to come back for parties and my daughter's baptism. The water was pretty high by my cabin so we went way upsteam to get to a little cleaner water and there is less fishing pressure up there. We caught them on soft plastics very tight to the laydowns, the presentation had to be very slow, it took these guys a little while to slow it down enough but once they did they really caught some nice smallies.I caught a great buzz!! We caught some decent ones on Sammy's and Black Buzz baits that night but not as big as the ones earlier in the day. I appologize about beeing so vauge as to where we were but I have been told not to reveal locales on here. P.Owensby if your reading this, these pics will be of you next week...I'll call you.this is the water at the cabin after the rain OAF member with his PB river smallie in length, it was a c hair over 20 another one of my protegees from OAF with his PB smallie 19 plus Paul with a decent Largemouth, I'm not sure why it is sideways?? P.Owensby next week you and I are yaking somewhere to get you a 20 hopefully....lesson learned for the week:: mother nature is a bitch, I had planned to fish 7 days in a row...what can you do???? "Smalliebigs' Big Smallie Guide Service" And yes I want a free trip after you start charging (you will have to eventually with results like that) for the contribution of the name. Nice fish guys. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. Smalliebigs
Mitch, the first smallie pictured here was 20 inches and the second was 19. Paul caught one last year that wasn't quite as long as that fish but weighed more. This fish he caught was only 3 pounds 9 ounces. When are we gonna go hit the river???? I'm ready.... Guest P. owensby
Bigs, that sounds great and I'm looking forward to it, but until then, I'm getting out of this jobless cesspool for a few day's and going to the Major's farm for some creekin' in southern Gasconade Co. Since we can't be specific no more on the forum, thought I also might hit up some creek's in central Mo, possibly in one of the following few county's; Maries, Osage, Miller, Phelps, Crawford, Callaway, or possibly somewhere else. I believe that is VAGUE enough. Good thing where we fish is measured in several MILES, as opposed to several ACRES. Figure it out people.... Have a great day all!!!!! KCRIVERRAT
Great lookin' fish there Smalliebigs! I'm kinda getting to be like you... I'd almost rather position the person in front and watch'em fish while I nurse my mug of bourbon and water, especially if that person in front is a kid! I'm actually going to STL this weekend but it is to pickup (hopefully) a new truck and I will have the wife and child along. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer.
