woodman Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Thanks for the compliments guys. Now I am trying to build a comfortable light-weight wood seat. I do have some closed-cell-foam I could incorporate into it also. I used 1/4'' slats to give it some flex. I plan on slats for the back, but it in the developmental stage now. It still feels a little hard on the tail bone. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
woodman Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 The bottom is done in automotive acrylic enamel. Mistakes in the hull due to the framing, but it is a learning experience (without plans). http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
flytyer57 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I didn't see any mistakes. If they are there, they are unforseen without knowing what to look for. I still like what you made. Keep up the good work!! There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Trout Commander Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Very nice! I am with flytyer, I am missing the mistakes as well. Do you have a cost estimate? I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
fishinwrench Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 The finish looks real nice. Is it just the pics or does it have a bit of a reverse rocker ?
eric1978 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Very, very nice work. It's beautiful man. I want your shop! I think 65 pounds is very reasonable for a tandem kayak...the problem I'd have is taking the thing on the water lest that nice finish gets scratched.
woodman Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 The finish looks real nice. Is it just the pics or does it have a bit of a reverse rocker ? You win the door prize, it was to late when I descovered the screw up. The plywood was glued down to the frames. Like I said it is a learning process. I guess if I thought it was perfect I wouldn't want to put it on the ozark streams and bump it on some rocks. Zack Hoyt Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Great looking seats!!!! I could use a few of those in my boat. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
woodman Posted September 7, 2010 Author Posted September 7, 2010 Rigging up the fishing aspects now. I came across the anchor trolly system. I made up some nylon pcs. to keep the rope in-line. The anchor rope slips through the ring. Next thing to get is a quick release cleat for the anchor rope. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
