johnboy2bfishin Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Had a old timer tell me that when you have that happen that it could have been a big fish( or bigger than your average keeper) that you felt spit the bait out. not sure about that but makes some sense. i think it could even be a fish coming up and just hitting the bait with a closed mouth trying to kill or wound the bait and when the bait doesn't act like they think it should they leave it alone
Jason Essary Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 John, your second thought seems right. When the bait doesnt seem to be dieing, they dont take it again. TRRANGER Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 Guys I to felt and saw the bats. I was fishing a derby so I was really paying attention to the line and the strike was very hard and fast. It was also suggested by a friend that walleye or gar might be to blame. Thanks I will try to hold off and feed them and see if I get a better result. Thanks for all the input. Tr
steveearle Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 We get these bites often at our LOZ night tourneys. Its not bats (although we have had those too). Im not sure what they are. Thought they might be very small drum but they are WAY more of a problem at LOZ compared to TRock. Whatever it is, they are not short biting bass...but we still have not figured out what they are...
