J-Doc Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 I'm replying to this thread as an update. I just took my boat up to fishinwrench Friday and got to did a little fishing while I was there. Glen is a great guy and very knowledgeable about outboards. I can usually read people pretty well and I have a very good feeling about Glen. You can tell when someone is giving you BS or when someone is straight-up a top notch guy. Just as an example, I needed an out of state license (only $7) for the day and while getting my permit and some snacks, Glen picked up the tab and refused to let me give him any money for it. I was his guest and I felt he rolled out the red carpet. I'm not saying he does that for everyone but you can just tell when someone is a class-act and little things like that go a long way. So if anyone is needing a good mechanic and wants someone with good/fair pricing, someone that will work with you and willing to offer advice for free......make the drive to Lake of the Ozarks. You won't be disappointed. I for one have found a good fishing buddy and a good mechanic. Some mechanics are in it for the money, Glen does it because he enjoys it. Money is nice too but that pays for his bills. Lol! I can't wait to get photos of the rebuild. I feel like a father in the waiting room pacing waiting for news. Lol! How sad is that!!! And how many guys take time to send you photos if a rebuild? I like it because I can see the fun of it, learn more about my motor and I collect photos of before and after for my restoration progress. Thanks Glen!!!! Oh and I'm bringing you some War Eagle spinnerbaits when I pick up the boat. Let me know what colors/ weights work best for you. Least I can do. fishinwrench Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Who doesn't love being talked about like that? THANKS J ! And don't sweat the fishing permit.....it's a write-off
J-Doc Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Glenn......I just gotta share this with others here. If anyone is looking for a TOP NOTCH mechanic who will not only fix your outboard but could potentially soil you for life and do the following: - Send updates and photos of the progress as well as the problem (keeps you informed instead of calling you to say....."I need more money") - Has the best cost/rates I've seen from many quotes and asking around - Sends you a video of your outboard motor to let you know it's "all good" and read for you to come get it I have had a REALLY rough week this week (stressfull days at work) and today, I got the video below. It was a shot of gas in my tank that I needed to get me through the day. I could go on and on about how great Glenn has been to work with and how good of a guy he is. He has tolerated my constant texting over the last few months, I feel he gave me one heck of a deal on my rebuild, he's given lots of good motor advice when asked, and overall......surpassed my expectations and my expecations were already pretty darn high. SO......if you need some motor work and you know it's not an easy fix, take the 4hr drive to Lake of the Ozarks and see Glenn........he'll treat you like family and give you a family rate. :-) (sorry Glenn....you might not have wanted me to say that) :-) Here's the quick video. Does the motor look great! Repainted and all cleaned up! 1979 Evinrude............gotta love em'!! http://youtu.be/8-CxZfCH22M From the bottom of my heart Glenn...........I'll never forget what a great job you've done. J-Doc Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Sorry Glenn........I meant to type "SPOIL YOU FOR LIFE".....NOT "soil you for life". LOL!! Site won't let me edit the post. So I'm posting this correction. hahaha! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
