I used to be in the same boat, slot limit, but after floating it I have noticed there are massive amounts of minnows in the creek. I personally would like to see the slab stay though.

Get rid of the slab. Return Crooked Creek to a free running stream.

Take out that dam in Harrison too.

So if they take out the slab, then what does the river physically look like where the slab used to be? Waterfall? Concrete detritus? Big rocks thrown in? Mudhole? Just curious. If memory serves, I thought there was quite a drop-off between the upstream and downstream sides of the slab.

If they take the slab out, it should return to a normal stream. The slab is nothing more than a dam.

The only thing I would be concerned about would be the silt piled up behind it. With the culverts it shouldn't be too bad though.

They took a dam out on a river I used to fish a lot for smallies in WI. There was at least a ton of silt built up behind the dam. When they took it out, all that silt went down river for miles. Kinda screwed up the fishing for a while too. Weeds started growing where there were none before. Pissed me off at first, but then as time went on, that silt started to get washed down stream and things started to return to normal. Albeit, not as quick as I'd have like to have seen.

Its not that big of a drop....But no telling what the removal will actually do, or what the new high bridge will do to the flow. Demo & Constuction will probably muck things up for awhile. That is certain. Cheers.

The new bridge should have no effect on the flow.

After a few storms and high water it may cause some log jams though. Only time will tell.

Good, solid, info fellas. Let me lick my pencil point and carefully cross off Crooked Creek as a possible fishing destination. Too much uncertainty. I will definitely NOT be fishing there in the foreseeable future.

Good. More room for me.
