Now I can agree with your presentation here. But on the flip side, why wait until it becomes a huge problem. If we can nip it in the bud slowly and incrementaly now, it won't come a huge shock later.

I would agree more careful studies should be done, and that they probably should be done now rather than later. I does appear to me at this point that the evidence is loose and that tighter studies need to be done. I remember that when the issue came up with waterfowl the evidence was solid and damning.

Ann I don't believe anyone "dragged" Trav into this, nor did they request he put his nose in it. I believe he's here by his own free will, in spite of his reference to boredom. Must have been a slow night huh?

If we know it is or it can be harmful, why do we need to wast more tax payer monies on studies? In all reality it is a minor inconvenience for us that does a greater good for the environment. I think we can agree on that???????

If we're really serious about saving birds, why are we expanding wind turbines, as opposed to nuclear plants?

I think whether or not the inconvenience is minor would depend on the fishermen.

If you were serious about saving birds you would be crying for the eradication of cats. They kill more birds than any windmill ever will.

But I believe we are discussing lead, not windmills.

My point chief is that if lead is a culprit in the death of birds, enough to put people out work in some instances. Why do we plan on expanding wind turbines when they aren't the only form of renewable energy?

Bird deaths do seem to be the only documented indication of harm from lead fishing tackle.

You're right that cats can have an effect on birds, but we've always had a lot of birds on our acreages, and cats. There aren't many things worse than rodents in the country.

There was a bunch of oversize loads clogging up the roads Friday carrying some kind of white thing with a name on it. I googled it and shazam, it was the housing for a wind mill. The blades went up a few months ago. Somebody is eating up the free cheese.

Windmills are a hazard to waterfowl, but much like duck blinds placed the same place year after year, they will adapt.

I didn't say anyone dragged Trav into this. What I DID say is that his name was. As far as putting his nose in it, this is a public forum, and I didn't see your invite to put your nose it it either but yet here you are. As a matter of fact, Trav hasn't even weighed in on the topic, not because he doesn't have an opinion on it, but because he doesn't think it is worth it. Someone has already stated the case, so why rehash it. So he made comments to the reflect the fact that it is getting out of hand. I was only suggesting that, even without him making an "essay" someone felt the need to make reference to him.

No one is going to change their mind either way, so all you are doing is beating a dead horse. Let it go people. Maybe we can get back to more civil posts.

Sorry Ann, but Trav must have sneaked on to the keyboard when you weren't looking, he was post no #10 on this topic. Has he had a stroke or something that requires you to defend him? I remember when he could do that all by himself.

I am by no means defending him he can do that all by himself. I was merely pointing out that Trav didn't write a long winded peice yet his name was envoked into the conversation. You don't seem to read what I post either. I clearly stated that he has not posted an "Essay". That is ok though. I understand you need to put someone down....All this wasted energy, you could be fishing instead and posting reports. You seem to rather brow beat people if they don't agree with you.

I have things to do now and am done with you and this thread. I think it is time you find something better to do with your time.
