Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted September 4, 2010 Author Posted September 4, 2010 No-No, it's "Squarebob Spongepants" ! You live in a cave or sumpin' ? What's the water temp on those WB flats now ? And what size are the shad their chasing ? We have a million schools of tiny 2" shad surfacing on LO now, the schools are bigger than my house and although they flush from time to time like something is after them, I can't get a single bite. Just too much bait I'm thinkin'. Yea, that's the guy Squarebob spongepants. The water temp is about 82. Down from 90 2 weeks ago. The shad vary, but are between 1" and 3" for the most part. some are very small. As far as to much bait to get bit, the flats here are loaded with shad. millions, so my personal opinion is that to much bait really doesn't mess up the fishing. What you really need to do is get to imitate the wounded bait. I throw a rooster tail in with them.. sometimes they want it reeled fast, other times they want it reeled slow or jerked etc. Try a small rattle trap or baby 1 minus. It might be small K's , or even crappie chasing the shad. If you are not seeing lots of fish busting the shad, then it is probably some lm or k's chasing them and not a huge school of fish, like the whites seem to do. It sounds like the whites are starting all over the lake. Ive heard of fish up around turnback, ruark, googer, state park, and .... so finding them shouldn't be a problem. I didn't get out tonight so waiting for someone to tell us if they were biting again. Good luck!! Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted September 4, 2010 Author Posted September 4, 2010 So would Rouark Campground be the best bank access to WB?? I would guess that up around 39 bridge or greenfield access would offer the best chance from the bank, although you might get into some around ruark, but I don't recall ever catching them on the campground side. Dutch Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 So would Rouark Campground be the best bank access to WB?? If you want to be successful from the bank then play the wind. If you don't have a map of Stockton, get one. Check out the wind when it is strong and see what banks will have it blowing in. Go to those areas and fish. I have caught and or seen them caught from the bank all over the lake depending on the time of the year and the direction of the wind. I used to love fishing with a fly rod on points inside the Masters area with a good stiff south wind.
Members Professor Jim Posted September 6, 2010 Members Posted September 6, 2010 I will tell everyone, but I was giving him some other info and I simply wanted to keep it off the thread etc. If you would like a copy of what I sent I would send it to you. you are right, when they are surfacing they are pretty easy to catch, but he was taking his kid and wanted to make sure he understood where to go. Sorry, it seems that I'm pretty good at offending people the past 2 days. Guess i'm getting good at that!!! Bob - Thank you so much for helping me out with advice on how to locate and catch the whites. I'm new to this type of fishing and really had no clue. Thanks to your advice, we found them and kept 15 between us in about 45 minutes of fishing. Our technique for locating them us pulling my son and his friend around in an inner tube in the general area that you told me and stopping when we found the bass on the surface. We'd stop, I'd pull the kids and tubes in and hand them their rods. Awesome time and we are plotting our next trip, hopefully Tuesday if he doesn't have scouts that night.

Champ188 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Great that you helped out the guy and his kids, Bob. And I wouldn't worry about offending a certain someone by sending the info in a PM. He likes to bounce around from forum to forum making noise.
