Fly_Guy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Just wondering if the road that goes across the dam is open yet. Was thinking about going up there and fishing (bank) around the dam sometime in the next week or so. Thanks brian
straw hat Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I can't promose that the road is open but I checked the MoDOT website and they don't list the road as being closed.
wtr dogs Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 It was open last weekend. Good luck! Home of the the dam of 2009 AKC National Debry Champion.--AMMOAMMO
Dutch Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 There seems to be little logic as to whether or not it is open. I have been by it many times during a two week period and sometimes it will be open and sometimes closed.
Fly_Guy Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 I appreciate it guys - I may give the Corps a call the day of... I'm thinking around the dam in the evenings will produce some walleye here shortly, and I have a night free here in 10 days. If I do any good, I'll post a report. (I have only caught two eyes this year, and not from Stockton, so don't hold your breath )
Dutch Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 If you are talking about fishing from shore below the dam, you can get to it even if the road is closed. When they close it you are only stopped from crossing the dam. You can access the other area from the east or the west depending on which side you want to fish. For me the most importnat thing would be are they running water. If they aren't then not many fish seem to come up the river. Have you tried below the Truman Dam?
Fly_Guy Posted October 14, 2010 Author Posted October 14, 2010 never tried below truman dam - that's a longer drive from ozark for me, but I have tried below the dam in stockton. Only caught white/lgmth/smth bass - never walleye, though I've heard they catchem there. I'll be fishing the rocks on the dam itself, or rather that little flat portion that sort of juts out. I've talked to MDC and it is apparently within the fishable area, you just can't cross the area that's cabled off. Last year, I lost 4(!) walleye at the bank fishing there with a stickbait.
